> ever resulting in someone saying "Hmm, that's a great point, maybe I'll rethink my position. I guess I am a dumbass just like you described. Thanks".

Because there is no magical system that does this, and expecting it is slightly silly.

> I do think though that it raises the issue that they should be paying for their own business premises and stop using our public spaces as their company waiting spots.

How is it ok to constantly have cars using these spaces for free? Using roads for free?

It is not just hedging their bets. One company can't rely on another company. You see it with Apple Maps, Siri, etc...

Google is as tied to Samsung as Samsung is to them. Until the last 2 years, Samsung was the only one making money selling Android. Now, we have a few chinese makers also making a few percent, while Samsung makes about 10% and Apple 90% of all mobile phone profits.

Exactly, 1.2 million dead each year is acceptable then!

It is ridiculous that we allow ANYONE. No one can maintain the levels of concentration we required for long periods of time, and in difficult conditions. And in the case of this story, with someone running in front of you, there is nothing you can do. But you are still responsible for their death, just so you can save a few minutes of time.

It is absolutely ridiculous we allow vehicles traveling at many kms per hour a few meters from our front doors. There is no way if we didn't already have this system, that we would ever implment it now.

But somehow most people think it is acceptable. For the chance to get somewhere slightly quicker, or not have to use PT or cycle.

> If you are married to someone and don't trust them enough to do the same I have to question the foundation the marriage is built on.

This is such a stupid attitude. It is your way or nothing, right?
