>I still find it hilarious that AI is so bad you need something to sit in front of it to pick models for you. And that's a normal, accepted thing

My lord. Of all the terrible, uniformed takes the HN posters are spewing, this is the worst one I've seen in a while.

The anti-AI crowd really are clueless, eh?

Sounds like you don't know what cashflow, profit, revenue and investment are.

Why on earth do data centres need to be built from cashflow???

You think Elon Musk fans were reading the financials???

The financials were always bad. Everyone with half a brain avoided the IPO. Did you?

Of course they do. The HN braintrust is mostly financially illiterate and sees conspiracies and fraud everywhere.

This is the biggest capital buildout on history. Saying money will be wasted is not insightful, it's obvious.

Yes, it happens all the time. Similarly it will say, "I'm not sure, let me look into this before I answer" then come back with "here's what I found".

Look at the responses in this thread and others, arguing with these people is futile.

I now read the absolute dumbest shit on HackerNews when it comes to AI. "It can't write code! It's always wrong!" And no one ever demonstrates any of it, even if it is counter to the experiences of others.

I'd feel bad if most of these people weren't total jerks...

Chatbots say "no" or "I don't know" all the time, so once again I feel like the anti-AI crew don't actually use it.

Their best models are getting more and more expensive, and still aren't SOTA.

It's almost like there's an actual cost to developing these models, and the Chinese don't have magic dirt that allows them to do it at a fraction of the cost.

Losing the reserve currency doesn't happen in a vacuum. It happened to the British and Dutch because their empires were dismantled.

So, yeah, it could happen to the US, slowly, over time (it already is). But nobody wakes up tomorrow and says they no longer want USD. Where are you parking the money, yuan?

If your company has bad engineers cranking out 10,000 line PRs your engineering culture and product was already bad, I guarantee it.

How many people actually care about phone tech anymore?

Like, of course there are subcultures that love this stuff, and I'm not criticizing that. And these folding phones are neat tech. But at some point phones for the 99% got "good enough", the model to model upgrades aren't even worth it.
