Reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 2 where the AI is talking about humans getting overloaded with data, and requiring an AI to curate it into information.
This video goes into it, especially around the 13:20 mark:
A reboot fixed it, but it's just such amateur hour with things that have been solved for decades.
I use spotlight to search for the "spotlight" system preferences window. I open the "spotlight" result with the gear icon next to it (scrolling past the "spotlight.prefPane", whatever that is), and where does it take me? The "general" tab of the settings app, of course!
There are so many more that you'd be forgiven for thinking this is some new company's first release of an OS. But nope, just one of the most valuable companies in the world, fumbling basic software shit.
What things are getting better for you on the software side? I updated from macos 15 (sequoia) to macos 27 (golden gate) on a mac mini m1, and have mostly just received software regressions and worse performance.
You should be! CPUs these days are so goddamn fast, there is zero excuse that things don't respond instantly to user input. Sure, you can't escape the latency of the speed of light, but so much software lags and feels like shit even on things that involve no network interactions. I have to use notion at work sometimes and it feels like trudging through a lake of mud. Absolute garbage latency because the devs (and their clanker handlers) apparently don't know any better.

Wait, what? Has anyone ever said anything to you when you strolled around a park drinking coffee? I've been in Japan over 10 years and do that all the time, no one has given a shit about it. The only time I ever hear about these "taboos" is when foreigners try to tell other foreigners how they should behave in Japan, like it has some mystique about it or something.
The toilet paper sucks, sure, but that's just cheap single-ply for public use toilets. People can and do buy the good stuff for their homes. Hardly an issue to worry about.
I wanted to ask how you do sharing of immich albums to your family outside of your LAN. I'm setting up something similar and won't have any services exposed directly to the internet so I'm facing a similar problem.
Can we talk about this more? I have spotify running on a 2nd gen apple tv 4k (the N-1 model), which goes to an LG OLED TV. I hear the buffer underruns, but I haven't bothered to dig into whether it's:
* The spotify app missing its audio callback deadline
* tvOS doing a poor job scheduling the audio callbacks
* Some fuckery on the LG side that is dropping audio samples
It's incredibly annoying to have "higher end" media equipment that can't even play a song without audible pops and skips in it.
