The constitution requires paying fair market value whenever a company is nationalized. Theft would be unconstitutional.

Need to update the aphorism:

If you owe the bank $100, that's your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million, that's the bank's problem. If you owe the bank $100 billion, that's country's problem.

In a process that takes multiple decades. Not particularly relevant in a conversation about AI.

If you don't do an overhaul and replace your rings, a high milage ICE car will not have the same range as new.

The Amish are overrunning America right now? Because it can't be Africans or Muslims, America is still 73% white.

> cut off completely from oil and gas

China is the world's 4th largest oil & gas producer. They're dependent on imports because they're the 2nd largest importer. However, they are simultaneously increasing production and decreasing consumption. Those two lines will cross some day. It might be a dangerous day for the rest of the world when China stops becoming dependent on imported oil.

Kudos to you, you're a more helpful person than I. I never looked for questions to help people, my interaction with SO was always "me first". If I had a problem before the AIpocalypse, I'd look on SO. If I couldn't find an answer I still had the problem and would have to figure it out the hard way. And once putting in the effort finding the answer it was little additional effort to provide it to others.

So I ended up with a large number of "revival" and "necromancer" badges for getting upvotes for answers on old previously unanswered questions. And many of my questions have my own answers posted a couple days later.

IOW, I provided a lot of value to SO. But I got even more value out of them, finding many more answers than I provided, especially since many of my answers were for very obscure questions. A real significant win-win.

I think this would have been a better model for SO -- encouraging more of this sort of drive by helpfulness rather than gamifying/socializing so much to encourage direct helping.

The stated preference of the majority in surveys is permanent daylight time, more sunlight in the evening and less in the morning.

The revealed preference is the opposite. Most people, when given the option for flex time, will start and end work later, increasing their morning sunlight and decreasing their evening sunlight.

Voting works on stated preference, so we'll likely end up with permanent daylight time.

It'll take several generations for this sort of effect to happen. Say 100 years. I wish we also had 100 years to adjust to AI and autonomous robots.

That's natural. Without clocks and artificial light humans wake up with the sun and gather around the campfire when the sun goes down.

I've noticed that in the corners of my 1s in follow mode where it doesn't bother me. Lucky, because mine would probably gather dust if follow didn't work well.

Xreal's can fix screens to a physical position and also have a "follow" mode that damps out the shakes.

Reviews indicate the Steam Frame runs desktop Linux apps fairly well, too.

In my personal experience pretty much every old farmer has had multiple vehicle fires. It's quite likely location dependent -- if you're in an area which clogs up air filters quickly, and or where dry straw getting in where it shouldn't is a likely experience, vehicle fires are very common.
