I think it's interesting that he kept multiple copies of a lot of the great writers, he apparently had over 100 books on Shakespeare alone.

One has to wonder how much of this he actually read, if he was reclusive it must have been because he spent most of his time reading.

The competitive pressures involved for life evolving on a super-abundant planet would probably produce many types of life that would be very unpleasant to humans, to say the least. One of the reason that people were ever able to flourish in the first place might be because of how "mediocre" the planet is.

Surely you have better things to do than making comments like this?

Not on enterprise accounts.

More UI elements == more tokens == more money for OpenAI

It's a pretty clever way to sell more tokens, I have to admit

Is it still necessary to ask Claude to spin up sub-agents? If Opus 5.5 decides how carefully it needs to think after each question, surely it can also decide whether it needs to spin up sub-agents? GPT 6 series models at least seem to do this agent management automatically.

Just think about the shareholder value they can unlock if they have unlimited access to everyone's data!

Hey, Dialogflow still appears to be alive and kicking after over a decade. Given how much money they have spent marketing their agent plaform I could see this lasting a while.

I don't think there is really any convergence going on. The agentic ecosystem is continuing to multiply on a daily basis and everyone and their grandma has written a new agent framework--people are stepping over each other to get these new projects out the door.

That said, I think Google's ADK ecosystem and this new AX platform is promising--I would expect Google to maintain this and other tooling around this for years to come.

To the Googlers out there: is Google using this at any capacity for internal projects?

I don't think this is entirely true: let's just say the jobs boom is unevenly distributed. There are definitely more openings than there were a year ago, but it is also now much more of a challenge to effectively market yourself as a person in tech.

On the one hand there is the problem that every job posting is flooded with hundreds of bogus AI resumes which, if they are not outright fabrications, stretch the truth enough to make it hard to tell who is qualified and who is not.

Anecdotally, it seems to me like directly applying to jobs is a waste. You either have to find some way to attract recruiter outreach, or network with people who can get you a foot in the door.

They certainly aren't politically progressive, but Boise is probably one of the cleanest, safest, nicest cities in the US. It is really quite pleasant, at least it was when I visited.

A true casualty of AI. Em-dashes used to be one of my favorite punctuation devices, now I find myself consciously editing them out of my writing.

What exactly makes it "obvious" that this is written by AI? I could totally believe that AI was used to generate parts of it, but I really don't get the sense that the whole thing was written that way. I've seen way worse examples on this site.

As software engineers we are constantly told that we need to heavily use these tools for our daily work. So is it surprising that software engineers use the same tools as writing aids? Using AI does not mean no human effort was involved.

Here's an idea: instead of paying your employees $800k, how about you cut their pay to $80k. See how many of them are truly in it for the mission.

This sounds a little dystopian. How confident are they that this system is reliable? Any downtime could literally result in deaths. I would be highly skeptical of such a system being put in place in my city, not to mention the private company being paid to provide these services
