Meh, wake me up when Chinese factories stop using european/american/japanese equipments and european/american/japanese softwares, because that's all they use.

The Chinese government can pay its scientists for papers that might not survive valid peer reviews all they want; up until this year anyways. They are utterly broke, and this won't last past this year.

Not this again.

The ASPI methodology is to use algorithms to count journal citations to determine who is "ahead". They don't directly examine the state of the technology. That's not to say that the conclusion, at least broadly speaking, is necessarily wrong, but journal citations don't directly translate into implementable technology.

It does make for great headlines however, which are free publicity for ASPI and whatever agenda they might be pushing.

"vassals" is a common phrase/tactic used by netizens in China to try to drive a wedge between US and rest of its allies. Nevermind that they never mention their allies like Russia or Brazil/Italy who seeks economic alignment as vassals.

I see empty factories in Shenzhen and Donguan, and massive unemployment in Guandong in September 2024. And I raise you full factories in Vietnam.

I see what salty China looks like now.

I don't think that's true. I see Europe and US and much of the rest of the world giving weapons and financial support to Ukraine. I don't see any other country giving weapons and financial support to Russia besides China, North Korea, Iran, and India who is buying more of Russian oil.

Check out Mariupol, Ukraine before and after the Russia invasion https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/apr/28/mariupol-befor...

Then check out Beijing giving Moscow "very substantial" help to beef up its war machine, and in return Russia is handing over its closely guarded military tech on submarines and missiles, in 2024 https://www.politico.eu/article/united-states-accuse-china-h...

Do you think Dictatorships care about any well being of anyone besides the ruling class?
