Coining a new term: LLM scare-crowing or just scare-crowing.

To get mine to finally update, I had to leave my laptop plugged in for a couple of hours. There’s some trustd process that runs every so often; I couldn’t figure out a way to manually trigger the sync.

I didn’t see the memory bandwidth/speed (someone can correct my mental model; yes, I know I can ask an LLM) which is just as important as vram size.

I missed the explanation for how the SSDs are connected.

Maybe a dumb question.

Seems normal to me.

Linguist here. It would likely be pronounced with a flap/tap, i.e., it would rhyme with shadow

I remember hearing about an interesting paper; it argued that Zebra finch songs were as complex as recursively enumerable languages on the Chomsky hierarchy. I wanted to see if I could find it but came across another paper arguing that their embedded context sensitivity can be explained by simpler rules.

Just the same, these little fellows are some of the cutest on our planet.

Willing to be corrected but I believe this type of automated resume filtering is illegal. Not saying it never happens but my understanding is it is not typical.

My first rule—before doing anything else—when writing a sentence, is to check whether I could have removed the em dashes by re-ordering the elements.

Update: in case it’s not obvious, I am sorry. I could not help it.

Breaking knowledge down into combinable modules is a great insight; ultimately, I think that’s the idea behind Zettlekasten.

I’ve started going down a similar path for scent and ADHD. I have a horrible sense of smell and just learned that it might correlate with symptoms of ADHD.

I’ve had surprisingly positive results with these red light glasses: https://www.eye-power.co.uk/product/eyepower-red/

I don’t know who on Hackernews first mentioned these red light glasses but bought them for my mom in the hopes it could alleviate some vision problems she was having. After reading the precautions and fine print she was scared to try them, so I figured, why not see if there’s a difference for me. I don’t know how to describe it other than my eyes feel well rested when I use these consistently. I can see better in the dark and depth perception is just slightly better. I’ll use these puppies forever.

Fantastic tool and love the delivery; no sign up required. Interested to hear how you pulled that off.

Also interested to hear if you plan to eventually support an option to add pitch accent; I've never seen what training material exists for that or how that is supported in unicode.

“What’s the memory bandwidth (GB/s) of the device holding the model weights?”

Isn’t the recommended option going to be dog slow at 256 GB/s.
