Yeah it's a bet. They shouldn't be bailed out if it doesn't work out but they should enjoy the benefits if it does. Maybe a bi-partisan bill that states both sides?

There will be 0 consequences. No one reads their work anyway. It's just used for ideological purposes. Distinguished professor Gabriel Zucman says taxes for the rich are too low and you, as a poor person, are paying 100% rate according to his methodology.

It's like a religion. If those guys were asked to make predictions on anything they would do no better than an average Joe.

The killer feature is having the best model behind it. Not so easy to copy. Grok Bot tries to compete with a really good harness/infra and the team is doing a great job but having Grok as a model behind id is a huge disadvantage.

Only for big corps. Small businesses still need to bear the compliance cost. Very EU style: stick it to the small guy while protecting their buddies in big corporations.

I prefer AI doing that over police using their judgement. AI is better and will get better. Reckless driving is a huge problem. Imo it's an emergency situation so I am willing to accept about any measures that leads to getting crazies/speeders/phone watching idiots off the roads. Bring SkyNet if you have to. Solving this is the highest priority.

The way things are going you will be able to run your favorite flavor of Linux on those pretty soon. It will be the best of both worlds: the best hardware and a good OS. Hopefully Apple doesn't take steps to block it.

At reasonable expected returns stock market will 5x in about 18-19 years. Anthropic has a lot of time to get to that 10T.

He aligns with AfD on issues where AfD is with majority of the population (stopping mass migration, some remigration) but not on all policies which make them far right. Also more than 30% of Germans support AfD these days. Hard to call that "far" anything.

>>Migration levels are controlled by government and are generally based on the needs of the society being governed. I thought the rules had always been pretty strict on getting into most western countries.

In theory, not in practice. If they are "controlled by the government" then illegal immigrants should be deported. What is happening is that a lot of people come illegally, often against wishes of local population. That's why it's "mass".

Speaking of EU (as Musk is often criticized for expressing his views on EU countries): majority of people support some level of remigration. Vast majority supports stopping illegal migration. Big majority is against migration from Islamic countries. Instead we get all of it at mass scale against wishes of the people. Musk is with the majority here but against ruling elite. His view is well in the middle of what people in EU support.

If you think Musk is far right you will have a really bad time in coming years. Musk holds very few far right views in comparison to parties very close to power in many EU countries for example.

He is against mass immigration, especially from Islamic countries. That is a very mainstream view though. There is nothing 'far' about it.

Maybe in principle but as practice in many countries show governments suck at planning. We need more electricity everywhere in Western world and governments failed big time even though there were signs hard to ignore - not only compute but also electric cars.

At least make it easy to build powerplants for determined private enterprises to speed-up progress where governments fail.

I would say they are split. Users clearly capture a ton. Anthropic is IPO'ing although probably at lower than initially hoped for. Big players are making big bets (datacenters, money on training). I would say right now:

-workers (employees) make absolute killing

-users of the product make absolute killing

-capital is making risky bets that may pay-off but for now it's unclear if they will and if so if it's going to be fast enough to be worth it

You know those companies are publicly owned and big % of American public owns shares in them? Additionally Google employs some 100k people in US and almost as many in Europe. Those are mostly very good jobs as well.

The whole anti-datacenters sentiments is stupid but "profits go to a handful of Americans" is just pants of fire kind of take.

USA makes it very hard to immigrate legally so probably many people don't express "desire" to immigrate there because that's not even an option for them.

Amazing to see Elon making his childhood dreams reality. It's something to behold. I hope we don't lose that spirit. The amount of negativity is very worrying. One of the coolest tech demos in 2026 and it's on the 3rd page of HN morning after because of the downvotes.
