This is just a X employee who really wants more people to see the nice documentation pages they worked so hard on :P

First of all, Mozilla is talking about slowly shutting down -features- in their browser to non-https sites, especially those that could pose a security risk to the user or their computer. I see nothing wrong with that.

Second, Mozilla is partnering with the EFF to launch Let's Encrypt! which will be a Certificate Authority providing free and automated SSL certs - so that should remove the 'resource barrier' the OP is so concerned about.

Mozilla is taking steps in the right direction to provide a safer internet for all of us, but more importantly, those of us that don't know any better, don't know how to protect themselves.

Keep it up Mozilla Team!

My chat-bots keep breaking, I know they are working to make the service better overall but it's a tad frustrating :D

My advice: Quit LoL, install Dota2, limit your gaming time per week. :D

Fanboyism aside, I find myself in a very similar situation. I've been playing DotA2 for years (and LoL before that, a littel DotA before that) and now run a Dota-community that has a fair amount of users.

Every day I need to decide between playing a handful of matches with my users or working on coding projects, and it's a hard decision to make.

What has been working most effectively for me is "code-weeks", I have at least a week a month where I limit myself to two (2) games a day, and make sure I'm spending some hours every day working on projects.

It's not perfect, but at least consciously trying to follow this pattern has pushed me to be more productive than I was in 2013, and quitting DotA cold-turkey is just not something I think I could stick with.

First thing I saw in my inbox when I got to work this morning. Sad really, the list has certainly had it's moments.

Can't help but be a little optimistic, at least the "Google Vulnerability with PoC" youtube-upload trollfest chain of emails is done flooding my inbox this month :D

I have the fondest memories of SoulSeek. I used to spend hours a day searching for rare tracks/albums (was really into obscure metal back then) and tirelessly organizing my library :D

Mark my words. 2-5 years from now this post will be linked all over the internet as they tie "cantbecool" (the OP) to the Dread Doge Shiberts and arrest him.

The 1TB requirement is for the default install, if you use the custom Debian-based installer that isn't an issue.

http://quassel-irc.org/

I've been running Quassel-core on a linux-server and the client on all my endpoints and it works fantastically. Plus I am in control of everything. Replaced irssi+tmux for me instantly.

From their website: "Quassel IRC is a modern, cross-platform, distributed IRC client, meaning that one (or multiple) client(s) can attach to and detach from a central core -- much like the popular combination of screen and a text-based IRC client such as WeeChat, but graphical."

A well respected security researcher who runs multiple conferences and Pwn2Own is hardly a "guy who knows nothing about computers"

hard to summarize when you don't read the article.
