My semi-outdoor cats are extremely anxious in cars. The vet is 150km away and they hurt themselves in the journey out of panic.

During one trip I decided to roll my cat in her usual blanket and then kept comforting her. I also played the usual music I play at house. This really helped calm her down. Putting her in a carrier was making her more anxious but being held in her own blanket made her feel safer.

Yes I am. It all makes sense now.

Yup and I often use my 1-3mm chin beard to mimick the licking procedure because I noticed that my cats like it more.

So it's like: wet their forehead with saliva or water => rub with my chin.

Future tech/ASI might be able to turn us into highly efficient information processing systems that don't rely on messy biology.

It worked for me. I've tried it with feral cats who had essentially zero human interaction history, and I made great progress without involving food or other trust-making processes.

It's not a magic bullet but more of an amplifier. Cats probably use far many data points alongside to assess safety.

I do all that plus I growl, hiss, rub my nose/cheeks against theirs, lick and groom their neck and forehead area just like cats. I imitate a dozen more cat behaviours.

I'm blessed with a lot of stray cats and slow-blinking alone helped me become friends with the most feral and aggressive tomcats here.

It'd be hard to compete when there are too many sellers like you. In many businesses, data is the moat and network effects keep making them more valuable over time.

Same. I'm not sure how is anyone able to play/enjoy it. To me, it seems very counterintuitive and boring to interact with.

That's like 1/4 of Codex users burning through their free resets just to build shinier todo apps.

Yeah and companies continue to use leetcode style interviews even today and software engineers keep grinding for them. It's nauseating to contemplate on.

Thanks for putting it in words. I feel the same about SOTA coding models. I get visibly frustrated by this and often find myself using curse words at Astra.

You're right it's very unhuman to miss obvious opportunities you mentioned. And what's why I think these models would continue sucking as long as they don't have human level general intelligence. They may get marginally better at these tasks but I don't think we can expect them to connect dots like humans before AGI.

Tried Gemini in Google sheets today and it was horrible. I simply asked it to apply a nice visual formatting (bold, header filling, currency signs etc) but it made everything look ugly despite working for 4-5 mins.
