This is great! Reminds me of playing Caesar III growing up. It all seemed like it was going well, and now I have buildings on fire and negative $$ on hand. Will need to try again later...

I have a two year old and have been receiving Imagination Library books monthly since he was born. This is a really wonderful non-profit. It's easy to sign up, the books show up in your mailbox, and each one has a page written by an educator describing how to read it to your child. (Point out the dog, what noise does a dog make? How does the boy feel at the end? etc) Highly recommend!

I think this is the best parable - a master key with no notches.

Not sure I follow - the great thing about open source is that you can just fork it and use an old version forever, if that's what you want.

Open source projects evolve the same way closed projects do - users come up with ideas and contribute, propose things they think are cool, etc.

Ahh wow this is awesome! Is there a way to deep link to a lat/long?

This is an incredible contribution to the community and it's just... one guy? I kept reading expecting a Series A funding announcement at the bottom.

It's a nice reminder: You can use AI to slop cannon at maximum speed, or you can use it to scale your ambitions and build something more rigorous and lasting than ever before.

I'd build Transcribe.cpp into the apps I maintain, but I feel like this functionality should (generally) be integrated into the OS or "everywhere" via an app like Handy.

This is my usage pattern and I agree it works really well. I start almost every conversation by asking Claude to read, not write. Then once it's explored a particular slice I let it rip.

This takes a couple minutes (and I suppose I'm spending tokens each time), but sessions rarely reach compaction length and I like that I'm not trying to keep a whole separate pile of docs in sync.

I think this is largely the point, this data is absolutely scraped but the people posting want to be found.

Just want to drive by and mention - a friend told me to play DDLC and I was highly skeptical given the anime pin-up girl art style. I eventually gave in and gave it a shot.

It's an amazing "playable story" unlike anything I have ever played. Super creative and well worth the couple hours it takes to play. I think it could use a few trigger warnings and it should be rated PG-13 / R, but there's stuff on Netflix 10x more disturbing so I don't quite grok the Google push back on this one.

That's unfortunate... I feel like every startup I know of just recently switched to Brex. I wonder how many are being kicked off the service.

Great read, but remember this is the guy that also recently authored "Why I'm voting for Kanye West".

Wow, this ignores both the "floor" below which you would not be subject to the wealth tax (in the US, most recently by Elizabeth Warren, this has been discussed as $50M+), and ALSO fails to take into account that you would be growing your principal at ~3-8% a year through investment, etc.

Sure, I guess with no floor on the tax and with your money just literally sitting in a pile, the government would eventually take a lot of it.

Oh jeez this is cool. The least we can do is get this guy a working Macbook Pro to continue his work. Donated!
