This ones easy, it's because the other ones provide a service people generally want, so the faustian bargain is always "Ill give you this thing I dont want to as long as you keep providing the thing I like."

Flock provides nothing direct to the consumer which means this is going to get worse and Id stake a wager they rebrand after raising their next huge round.

I mean, this clearly a technology change. Would you have stopped the printing press because young people got worse at verbally telling the ancient stories? Or when kids stopped understanding what a card catologe was?

We are in the middle of a major change and it very well could be net negative, but for the most part history just keeps marching and its fine, just different.

Politics is the act of organizing people.

Your whole comment misses the point of the sport. It is not effective to look for the most accurate or rhetorically tested point, the goal is to rally as large a group around a point that dosent make them look like hypocrites, or materially clashes with how they present their identity in other parts of their lives.

This point being mealy mouthed is by design.

Unpopular take: This was significantly better for employers and employees.

It worked as both an effort and presentation filter which both reduced the overload of candidates, allowing for more attention, higher variation of skills that didnt often show like traditional resume bonafides and mad companies more likely to invest more in employees as it was a pain to go do again.

For employees it was great too. Much like the world pre-dating apps the business world wasnt all looking for the equivalent of trust fund, 6'5", blue eyes. As well as the points mentioned above.

Infantino either has already paid out people or already accepted money. Its unbelievable that he didnt poll for enough votes before launching. Theres a now a greater than 50% he has to step down.

Crime only plays if you do it correctly.

Oh man, when they moved Endeavor through the streets of LA it was like a championship parade.

Your collection is incomplete as you have not useen the Space Shuttle pass through a Wendy's drive through, the extremely rare and unlockable, hidden operating mode.

The stadium pays no property tax. Its a bummer some enterprising pro-bono lawyer hasnt bullied some clever points of leverage onto city subsidized projects that strip some of the god-like powers to deny access from these places.

On a personal note, James Dolan seems universally disliked by staff, fans and regular people alike. It's almost impressive.

Or the model was a marketing expense to capitalize the data center model. Im not saying it was intentionally that, but its been an effective "that."

Any machine with an on-off switch is functionally an organized and automated work flow.

If I understand correctly youre talking about reactive adjustments, but thats not completely accurate either. There is a lot of projection that this MAY happen, but currently, the capital owner/stewards are going to constantly watch outputs and adjust to them based on the results. You're probably correct in that they will spend far less time doing so, but anyone with a vested outcome is going to have to adjust these things as the responsiblity for the outcome will always land on the owner not the machine.

I mean you could have written this article for mechanization word for word, I think the difference is that its coming for the white collar folks this time, who also are the folks writing the think pieces and media.

If you think there is even a 2% chance you're going to need a government bailout over the next decade, you simply cant be calling your product the grim reaper.

It was so funny, he mostly predicted the election correctly, but people confused probabilistic forecasting for sports lines.

Serious questions, how is this destruction and not just "change?" It seems throughout time the world has experienced acute shifts, dying offs and other events. In those transition periods many animals that you know and love today finally got a shot at main character roles. Heck the reduction of o2 in the air that killed/shrunk a lot of dinosaurs is basically the opening slave for you to be able to write this Hacker News comment.

None of this is to say don't mourn or long for any of this, but the show doesnt end, the charecters just change.

Man, a simple google would help. Lets start with the USB flash drive, Iron Dome, PillCam. The drip irrigation technology alone has transformed arrid farming. Factor in Mobileye, ICQ, Check Point's firewall and Waze and this is legit just in the last decade and half.
