Usually you’d choose to port features in slices end to end so that you don’t have to pull in bugs as side effects. Strangler fig.

Obviously this fails if this is a large org with many teams and microservices, but for a leaner org this isn’t really a problem.

I realize this thread is about Cisco so my comment doesn’t apply here haha.

I'm astounded that I kinda ended up building the same agentic workflow they are talking about in this article and distributed it amongst the org (eng and product/designers).

On the other hand, I would have expected Anthropic to have a drastically more elegant SDLC.

As a personal anecdote I highly recommend not using the Copilot harness. Even with the same model I found it produced mediocre results against the first class frontier model harnesses.

The learning is at that level of abstraction, so yes taking away the abstraction prevents will stymy you.

Just like if you pressed a button to wipe out our main language stack at our job, yeah none of us would know how to do anything with assembly or machine code.

I hate marketing websites especially for developer products.

“You no longer have to florp, now you can vorp!”

Big numbers, random charts. 10x 100x 200x!

Who is this for? Just make the docs the home page.

I mean look at our response to climate change and then look at our response to COVID.

Change doesn't happen until we are at the absolute brink of IMMEDIATE catastrophe.

I find it a breath of fresh air to be able to tackle backlogged tech debt items simultaneously with business priorities in parallel and stuff like that.

That being said, I can't see this entire field existing in five years anymore. I'm hoping for at least two more years, but who knows?

This stuff is coming for all white collar, the barrier to entry is completely gone now. Maybe not the barrier to mastery (yet), but the bottom has fallen out.

> Within the next 5 years, how likely do you think it is that you will have to change careers due to reasons beyond your control?

When I filled this out myself in July, I was "somewhat unlikely"

If you ask me again now, only a few months later, I'm probably leaning towards "Somewhat likely".

Insane how fast this space is moving.

This isn't something you need an AI to do for you though...

Out of every single reason given for why the bootcamp era was justified the only one I believe is that there was so much focus on it because bigger players wanted to flood the market with cheap supply and drive salaries downward.

This is not any different with offshoring before, and AI now.

There is a human in the loop that either prompted the agent or approved the code. So it doesn't matter if the AI is accountable or not.

You don't want to live in a society where an increasingly large percentage of the population have nothing to lose.

Regardless of whether it benefits our industry or socioeconomic status, it'd be incredibly shortsighted to just do all of that at the expense of the lower classes.

The easy infographic generation scares me on the implications for society.

I can't describe how fast my eyes glazed over seeing all those numbers. The cow was very cute.
