Google’s obviously fake excuse for killing their RSS reader (declining usage) was especially maddening at the time because they were pushing Google+ - which _nobody_ used.

This is interesting; I see the docs mention that polling support is built in for asynchronous background tasks. What about event-driven systems where a message will be published when a task completes (such as from a message broker/pubsub system)?

To me, this article misses the mark.

The database is not your domain model, it is the storage representation of your domain model on disk. Your REST/grpc/whatever API also isn’t your domain model, but the representation of your domain model on the wire.

These tools (database, protocols) are not the place to enforce making invalid states un-representable for reasons the article mentions. You translate your domain model into and out of these tools, so code your domain model as separately and as purely as you can and reject invalid states during translation.

I have asked AI on multiple occasions to take items from some input and output a table, or a json structure and every time it has simply skipped or ignored several items from the input for no reason.

This sounds like a terrible idea, and nearly impossible to debug when it inevitably drops data.

> Again I don't disagree, but if it were really so easy we would have done it decades ago. It's not like this is a new idea.

The Netherlands did do this decades ago (Utrecht from the video).

What's North America's excuse?

So the solution to traffic congestion and pedestrian deaths is not “make better cars”

Very similar situation with my partner and I, except we use budgeting software - I manage my own personal budget and our "joint" budget separately. My partner isn't interested in using the software for her own expenses, which is fine.

We can both see how much money is allocated to everything, if there's anything one of us wants to spend money on that would be a shared thing - we budget for it.

When I was undergoing chemotherapy to treat Hodgkin's lymphoma, I tried to keep up some exercise but it was just too difficult. I ended up needing to take a drug to boost my white blood cell production so that treatment could continue. White blood cells are produced in your bones and this drug made it feel like every bone in your body was broken. It was awful.

Had I known this at the time, I probably would've forced myself to ride my indoor stationary bike every day if it would've helped avoid that immune booster drug.

My car does this too! Except the first song in my library is A Christmas Festival by Boston Pops Orchestra.

The song has a dramatic opening, to say the least.
