For when you want to spend more on a key than a Begali

This is an interesting challenge, would be a great homebrew project.

(If I wasn't already neck deep in interesting challenges I would consider picking this one up)

Very fair question, I had the same thinking two years ago. Since then I got interested in amateur radio, and in particular low power, portable operations as well as homebrewing transceivers.

Using only 5W when conditions are right can work from Australia around the planet using a $30 radio and a 20m wire antenna thrown in a tree.

Also, while its definitely possible to homebrew equipment that transmits voice, morse code is much simpler as you are approximately connecting power from an oscillator to a small amplifier (a couple of garden variety transistors works just fine here)

Yep, you can do one without the other.

The bigger hassle seems to be different zigbee hubs that have varying levels of compatibility, so while you can pair the devices you can't get the data you want.

I've just been down the research rabbit hole, and about to try using zigbee2mqtt to bypass this nonsense (this also then means the only internet connectivity will be through a device you control)

As someone living in Melbourne it's been frustrating to see this same nonsense spread locally by a very vocal minority, followed by "lockdowns don't work".

I'm celebrating that following the science here has taken us from > 700 new cases per day, to our second consecutive day of zero (and lockdown ending less than 3 hours from now)

It's actually very hard for Kiwis to get citizenship, because the special category visa that lets them live here permanently isn't actually permanent residency, and so there isn't a path to citizenship.

I'm curious where this is a thing more specifically, never heard of this living in Victoria and Queensland

Which points out that the incorrect configuration was on their second go around

Interesting story: Sully actually lost a copy of one of Sidney Dekker's books in the forced water landing that he'd borrowed form the library.

NPP is on it's way to being really handy, but it still sucks that I have to hack things to force NPP for some payments

(ie. CommBank will only use NPP for PayID payments, but banks like Up will use NPP for transfers for a BSB/Account number if the receiving banks supports it, not all banks are fully on the platform yet)

The downside is my teenagers can now shake me down for cash remotely

When pay TV first came here, part of the deal was they weren't allowed to show ads for a certain amount of time. I remember 'ads' for other TV shows like the ABC does, but that was it.

I have no idea why someone in Australia would have Foxtel now if they don't watch sport
