11 votes to 10… there was basically no one to vote for. Stop wasting your time on that, it’s going to get removed next time.

And before he came back, apple was on the verge of bankrupt because people without any vision whatsoever took the lead.

The same kind of people are now doing it again, it will take time but every decision apple has been taking is giving me a bad taste.

even the evolution of macos and IOS. They are much closer to windows and android now.

Exactly what i was thinking, with these decision they are making a quick bucks but in the long term apple will just be another washed and forgetful brand like most of the windows brand, and then what reason to get a macbook ?

They worked so hard to "think different", get a following with people that would willingly spend more for a product inferior technically because it was just bold.

i am the first one to appreciate the direction apple is taking, as a customer it will bring even more competition to the windows laptop market because everything will be similar, but when i put my self in steve jobs shoe, i want to puke.

Apple directions is going insane. there is no other explanation.

They refused for decades to put a touchscreen because they know very well it will eat on their ipad sales.

One less reason to get an ipad pro.

They ticked all the boxes.

Add to that a locked OS, and you got a bingo.

Because he was saying “hey guys “ naturally without thinking twice.

Now you make him think twice about what he’s saying, of course he’s going to nitpick everything.

> In response to the AI-driven platform shift, Microsoft is trying to reskill and relocate workers and is still hiring

Damn, I’m glad I’m not a developer.

French gendarmerie ditched it a while ago, went to use Linux on all compares and been doing fine for decades.

There is no technical reason to be impossible, the issue is political.

Corruption promoted by American lobbies onto European government and preventing any actual decision.

When people in charge “have balls”, it does work.

I don’t see how it’s more reasonable. Google constantly nags you to accept terms and conditions to get things to work.

Most likely you will agree to share it with “other Google services” just by setting up an Android phone.

> The plaintiff (Sony Music Entertainment GmbH) then used a VPN to access the blocked content from Germany in circumvention of the geoIP blocking. The court agreed with Sony in their assertions of noncompliance, and we were fined for contempt of court.

This is some fucked up level of incompetency.

That’s why Justice can be abused by whoever got the most money, if it was competent they wouldn’t waste much time on these ridiculous claims.

The frostbite engine seem to be the tip of the iceberg.

Core issue was lack of clear leadership from what I read on Wikipedia.

It’s still better than windows but I agree that the trend is down and not upward.

That scares me because what are the alternatives ? Windows is even worst and no light in sight, Linux is Linux… and that’s all.

I don’t think the issue is really that api aren’t mature enough or that some developers refuse to use flatpak sandboxing correctly and instead use static permissions.

Linux, Unix and most computers were designed from the ground up as open system where everything can access everything.

It’s absolutely not secure, but that’s not what flatpak is supposed to fix.

Flatpak is supposed to make installations of apps easier by sharing common dependencies across all distributions. That’s all. And in a way, it works.

It has downside even on that, people who have slow internet connection will require hours to download a simple calculator app whereas it took a few seconds before, but it works.

Now on the sandboxing part, you can’t fix a sinking ship with a chewing gum in the hole. The whole structure is not designed to work this way.

It has to come from yet another distribution where permission are enforced at the operating system level, like on macOS. It’s a lot of work, and then you got to get developers on board, so it will never happen and it’s fine. Linux is not macOS, it doesn’t have a trillion dollar company backing it up and it’s not unified.

You got to play with your strength, not your weaknesses.
