> Without hardware documentation, you're looking at decades of reverse engineering effort just to get somewhere half as far as an engineer with hardware documentation can get in a weekend.

I'm not sure this is true anymore and it is becoming less true with each new LLM release.

> No one cares about spending a decade reverse engineering the hardware on a Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy.

Actually, this might a cool idea - just get a few super cheap smartphones, connect them all to a PC, give LLM access and tell it "make linux gud like android pls" and just give it a weekend.

I'm 30, I am trying to achieve what the other person described. I'm not there yet, but I feel like I might be in 8-36 months timeframe. Ask me then, you'll get at least one more data point that's not just survivorship bias.

I've been doing that since before reasoning was a thing baked into the models, it always performs better this way. Except for some providers/models where you just can't easily turn it off, now I just avoid them. This way I save tokens and have full control of the reasoning.

Thank you for putting this here. While I do believe in climate change, I could not finish reading the article as it seemed like the authors opinions are led more by emotions rather than facts. And gourds.

Better, take a look around. No random mobile focused redesigns to hit a random KPI.

Text only design also invites to focus on the discussion itself. It also has proper moderation.

> It's almost guaranteed with agents you could do the same job with less than half of 100k lines.

That's great, non-test code is only ~47k lines of code.
