They did VEPs at Google at my org a year ago and nothing has happened yet.

Yes, the MO of the Trump administration is to blame the other side of what they're actually doing.

Loudly making unfounded or exaggerated claims of corruption is a pretty effective tool for muddying the waters and making it less clear where the smoke is coming from.

What constitutes a "specific" point?

You can't identify the points that I made? You think you're skilled in rational discussion but can't even do the basic skills required for it?

This is why people don't respect "rationalists." Because people claim to have superior reasoning skills but would fail a freshman survey course on it.

That's another mistake many rationalists make. Viewing other people's well justified moral convictions as "grandstanding."

I'm making valid (if deeply critical) points but you're contributing nothing except your misinformed judgments.

You need a combination of both openness and intelligence to distinguish good ideas from bad ones. We don't need to debate whether or not I'm secretly a dolphin.

Unfortunately most rationalists aren't as smart as they think and mistake verbosity for reason and judgment.

I've seen rationalist adjacent tech twitter accept people who take openly awful ideas, and it seems as though the tolerance for rejection of norms is a really good cover to let horrible ideas proliferate -- that is, if someone is willing to be verbose and pedantic enough to dissuade anyone from trying to argue against them.

Rationalists seem to believe that their ability to convince themselves of anything given enough evidence is a sign of intelligence. It's not. It's a sign of being disconnected from yourself and your true values. There is a great amount of wisdom and intelligence in properly honed intuition.

Rational thought should help you understand yourself, not disappear.

Well, yeah. They relocated their data and their services elsewhere. It didn't go away.

I doubt Yandex would ever be able to leave Russia, even if it wanted to.

Yeah, it contradicted my intuition as a developer. If you take down a data center it isn't gone forever. The development team does not live there. Even if it's poorly backed up they're going to rebuild it.

This has been Apple's niche forever. Create a product with a few extra bells and whistles, better craftsmanship, and charge a fat premium that people who care about those things are willing to pay.

Yeah, what I was trying to say is "the criticism doesn't make sense to me because I forget because I have access to the good stuff."

As a Google employee my defense is it's hard for a company this big to move fast, but I can understand how Google customers would be annoyed.
