I notice no difference using AdGuard (in basic mode, with only the content blocking rules and no page read access) in Safari or uBOL in basic mode on Chrome vs. using UBO on Firefox. And in uBOL’s case you can always increase the filtering level if you’re willing to grant the extension read access to pages to basically match uBO. You can even hide/delete elements or add your own custom rules.

I feel like most people who make MV3 complaints didn’t bother actually trying it, they just repeat the default anti-MV3 talking points.

I fail to see how a satellite data center would fix this unless the company was entirely off planet

Switzerland? Although they’re attempting to close in on this there too.

> I’m not sure how the love for GNOME continues

Because KDE looks and feels straight out of 2010 compared to GNOME? GNOME just suffers by leaving some (what should be integrated) features to its shitty extension system.

The average consumer of Apple products 100% does not care about this, it’s only an “issue” in hyper niche places like here. In the real world the average user doesn’t care or notice or more likely uses Apples Intelligence features.

This whole thread is made up of people living in a bubble.

> GOS can just talk about the upside, their solution to this problem. That's great work. But they often choose to denigrate others, which is destructive, damages relationships…

Sorry, but no. This sentiment isn’t too different from politics in the US right now where the politicians that “call it like it is” are significantly more popular than the “traditional take the high road speech” candidates. It’s a lame thought process.

I appreciate GrapheneOS telling it like it is, and their language highlights the failings of Google. It’s unacceptable that the maintainer of Android/AOSP is performing like this.

> I'd think Motorola, who now has money and reputation depending on GOS's success, would tell GOS to zip it. If I were in that industry and looking to partner, I might love GOS's technology but their behavior would be hard to overcome.

This has little to no effect on Motorola. They didn’t even promote their partnership with GOS and mostly only GOS users and tech enthusiasts are even aware of this partnership. People who need / want GOS don’t care about the attitude of the developers as long as they deliver beneficial things and don’t go off the fascist/racist/socially unacceptable deep end (and even that is debatable just look at Omarchy and it’s sponsors as well as Brave). The average consumer could not care less and will continue to be unaware of GOS at best, and at worst view it as negatively as the press tries to portray it when the government tries to attack someone’s digital civil liberties.

This is my dream, just waiting for the motorola with a stronger cpu/gpu and hopefully greater than 1080p resolution from AOSP Desktop Mode.

If that’s how you want to rationalize your worldview, sure.

I guess then you would also believe that someone who voted for the current president of the US also isn’t directly responsible for the war in Iran, ICE killing US citizens, and the alienation of Canada.

It’s easy to say “I’m not directly responsible” if you’re proxying it through someone else.

Yandex pays taxes into the Russian government which is controlling military actions in Ukraine. Is this or is this not true?

Yandex pays taxes based off revenue it takes in from companies like Kagi. Is this or is this not true?

People here who pay into Kagi provide the search engine with the funding to pay Yandex. Is this or is this not true?

You can say it’s “not direct” and it’s an “oversimplification,” but the money still ends up in the same place all the same. You can try to wash your hands of it all you want by playing mental gymnastics.

Willingly paying Kagi knowing this makes you at minimum partially complicit in Russia’s invasion and ethnic cleansing of Ukraine.

Trading using Google for giving money directly to a company that directly funds Russia’s efforts in the Ukraine invasion, that acknowledges and refuses to do anything about it, doesn’t seem like the greatest swap.

Tbh this is up to Qualcomm more than anything. Pessimist in me says that they’ll gatekeep the security features to higher chips in order to max out profits.

This isn’t permanent. We see the rise and fall of plenty of brands overtime (Nike, Mitsubishi, etc).

If your branding and product is good enough you can overcome this. I mean just look at social media networks too that constantly come in and out of the picture.
