How long until one of these dipshit regulators are going to FAFO and find their connections to the backbone are severed because no one wants to play with them anymore?

No. It wasn’t ever good. Tried it in the early eighties. It was barely dog food back then too.

It's difficult to imagine a more damning departure than Jeff Dean.

It's precisely this kind of toxic environment that suffers most under microservices.

It's far better to have systems in place that fail with culture this broken than one that enables it to limp along.

Funny that there's another trending post titled, "Don't be a meat proxy," just above this proposal that we literally meat-proxy all the code.

Whenever I encounter an especially preposterous proposal like this one, I like to imagine a USMC Drill Instructor wandering into the open plan office and having an interaction something like this:

USMC Drill Instructor: "What the actual fuck are you doing?!"

Smelly Recruit: "Sir, I'm hand typing the LLM output. Sir!"

USMC Drill Instructor: "Are you fucking with me recruit?! I said I wanted a SASS App, not a typing tutor! Drop and give me 20!"

Smelly Recruit: "SIR, YES SIR!"

Kubernetes is an attempt to solve the problems that come from deploying, Microservices™ across a gigantic enterprise with hundreds (or thousands) of contributors.

If you are one person and just need to expose a handful of macro-services, Kubernetes is almost entirely made of waste in terms of complexity, abstraction, indirection and resource consumption.

Mark the date.

If this passes antitrust review (unlikely imo), Stripe is about to be destroyed by a culture virus that they *paid* for.

Early in my career, when I was dealing more with bottom-tier customers, the first 3 companies tried to stiff me.

They were all surprised to learn that they couldn't do much without the source material that they never paid for.

One of them was very surprised when the website flipped to a white screen on a Monday morning at 9am.

They called asking why "THEIR" website was blank.

I explained that they didn't own any websites, as no money was exchanged.

If they would like me to transfer MY website to them, all they needed to do, was submit payment, along with late fees.

The money hit my account within the hour and they owned a website a few minutes after that.

This is why, as a contractor, you never, never, ever transfer source materials until the bill has been paid.

If a company insists on working inside their version control system, insist that each biweekly payment be submitted in advance.

That's a great point. I'm probably wrong, but I still don't think they'll waste this opportunity to figure out how to cram digital id through.

Perhaps that will be how they will make it more broadly available.
