  > I have no idea what makes it different from any other freeware/open source DAW.
This claims to be able to open .flp files. That's a big deal for me. If it works.

I think someone has failed to recognise that whiff of sarcasm in the air

  > one of the co-maintainers of GNU coreutils here
I'd just like to say thanks to you (and the rest of the team) for this foundational software which I use every. single. day. :)

you literally just said

  > that’s why you should use a semver range, as is the default, instead of leaving it unconstrained
You should probably pick one of these two mutually exclusive options and stick with it.

or in other words: no

  > My personal rule: anyone who uses any chromuim based browser is a tech illiterate
That's funny, that's exactly how I feel about people who haven't jumped ship from firefox yet.

  > I have had more than 1500 tabs in one machine a couple weeks ago on a laptop of 16gib ram, running 1% of those on chromium based and it will crash.
I have 1940 tabs open in my chromium-based browser right now. This machine has 16GB RAM. It's running just fine, thanks. It's been this way for weeks. I opened a new tab to reply to this.

  > Plus the proper ad blocking and control over privacy, making it the last bastion of browsers right now.
All that stuff is just built into brave. Which is chromium-based.

  > the over thinkers on Hacker News come up with convoluted reasons to hate on Firefox
It's not convoluted at all:

Firefox is worse today than it was in ~2012.

That is all.

FAIL: I got all the way up to 11% on the C drive and it didn't restart from scratch due to a disk write even once.

Pretty sure it was really just smarter filesystems that avoid and/or reduce fragmentation automatically: just be a bit more clever about where you place things, and reorganise/optimise things automatically and silently in the background.

Such things did exist back in the day, but they were relatively expensive to run since they had to run all the time. There was one that I used to run back in the 90s when windows was a thing. I think maybe it was diskeeper but I'm not sure.

Cool page, it lists a bunch of compelling arguments. It's always good to see more and more people realising these things and start insisting on actual ownership.

Meanwhile, did you know defectivebydesign.org has been around for 20 years now? Makes me feel old.
