Yes.

The article would then be "MUL-accelerated multiplication". Obviously any modern compiler should not require a developer to make that optimization.

What does "normal instructions" mean? I don't see (or missed) a heading with "Normal" in the ESP32 docs.

Edit: Or are you saying the instruction called out by the author is not SIMD?

How does using instructions that operate on multiple data elements, which make your software 3 times faster, not fit the definition of SIMD-accelerated?

You are not wrong. However, I don't see how your point relates to the post to which your responding.

LinkedIn used to be a half-decent social network. There weren't too many updates, some were grift of course, but you'd also see former colleagues doing interesting things like startups or academic papers.

Then ChatGPT happened and dear lord did LinkedIn ever fall off a cliff. So, so many low-effort, zero-value updates. Far worse than any other social network I use.

My father was deep into photography in that era and digitized all his photos. He was understandably paranoid about drive failures. The solution? ZIP disks everywhere! Cue massive family stress when the disk containing his competition entry was nowhere to be found and definitely in one of the kids rooms. It was, of course, found 3 days later in the glove box of his truck (thank you for reading my lowercase-t trauma dump).

And the last criticism is particularly silly. Do you need several hours to charge an electric car? Yes you do. Do cars spend most of their time parked in one place? You bet they do!

That’s the usual length of Acquired podcasts. Those guys go deep. It’s one of my favorites.

I’m don’t do much change-clicky-button software development. But when I do, I point models to specific lines of code. And have never had a result this bad.

Maybe this is geared towards pure vibe coders for whom a file and line number is too technical.

I am aware of the "eating wins races" strategy for endurance sports.

Glucose and ketone monitoring seems a natural, more precise extension of that strategy. Isn't the point of carb-cramming to get more glucose into your blood stream, where your muscles can convert that into forward motion?

You are saying that, even if you wear sunscreen and avoid sun burn, the UV exposure will still potentially lead to skin cancer?

I'd like to see the primary research backing that up. Or be told how I misinterpreted your statement.

When the substance of an article is accurate, the best people can do is argue over the presentation.

Right, I noticed that in the article. I should have s/franchise/location.

A $200k loss isn't much in the context of the whole company but it may be a very large amount for an individual franchise, and they want to set an example.

Think of it like a restaurant chain pursuing legal action against an internal theft ring at a single location.

(I am not taking the BAM side here, just providing a rationale for their actions).
