Actually aging research is probably really well funded in comparison. Loads of billionaires are investing. So at least money is not the issue. Morals and time. Sure, and then regulators.

One big thing with aging research is though that it just needs time. No shortcuts really. You don't know it works until the first people love another few years.

StreetComplete is great. For me it made Openstreetmap much more approachable and now thanks to me there are a few more public toilets and one small road in osm. Especially with the road it was really interesting to see how quickly Google maps also took in this path. But they still also have the old road in the app. So it's linked but not 100%

I gave up pandas in favor of polars after someone at work did the same and I am very happy with it. Pandas API is just so much worse and much slower.

totally agree, businesses that only have Facebook or Instagram are basically hidden from me. I can not see their opening hours, nor the menue, if it is a restaurant. I understand why the businesses use facebook, its easy, but its also a bit sad.

I agree that the species concept is a bit of a mess but how do you conclude that these two populations can still interbreed?

From the article I do not get the same suspicion. Even though they mention the "sister species" is 1200km removed this might be true while being a "finished" allopatric speciation.

This is such a nice fix but then you install it's set it up to launch on start and forget about it. 5 years later the bug has been fixed for 4 and I still have tho script record a random pixel every 10 seconds. Never know how to know that the hacky fix is no longer needed

Maybe someone can explain: in image generation some models are already using rectified flow. Which was hailed as the next big thing. Are we going to see discrete rectified flow models next or is that unlikely?

I've also started using typst for some projects. I am slowly getting used to the syntax. But it's a process for me. I also still have latex projects/docs
