Social media + engagement algorithms = societal cancer.

Why is everyone so comically pessimistic about this. Have you guys not seen the rate of progress of these models? Do you not realize that we have HITL RSI making these things even better as time goes on?

The stuff I can do with Astra that Sol couldn't do at all is wild and it's not even coding related. Dario et al are not hitting any sort of make believe wall. They're seeing how fast things are progressing and are legitimately alarmed.

I'd trust thieves with my data over Meta because thieves can do less harm with it.

I worked there for years. I assure you, based on my experience, that there are a lot of dumb people there making > $500k/year.

Create your own protocol. I created a "wind down session" protocol my agents use that takes detailed notes in a "next_session_prompt.md" file that covers what was done this session, what is still open, and where they need to pick up the next session.

You can refine the protocol as you realize what's working and what isn't. I've been using that for months and it rarely drops important things now.

Opus 4.8 decided to code up its own version of the SwiftUI rendering engine for iOS when I asked it to change a swipe gesture. I left the computer for several hours, came back, noticed it still wasn't done, noticed it had alarmingly burned through my weekly tokens, and had to stop it from continuing.

"You're right. What I did was overkill and I should have just used iOS's built-in rendering engine. Noted for next time."

Apple has historically been able to keep prices the same even when everyone expected them to increase. Not a great sign that even Apple, with supply/pricing usually locked up years in advance, has to raise prices.

They tell you to order whatever you want, then surprise you with a bill at the end?

"Wife is on the plane. Guy had a speaker named bomb. He just confessed to it. He said he named it forever ago and forgot about it. He’s 16 years old. Wife’s friend is sitting next to him as they are questioning him."

I was trying to make electrical contacts that didn't dissolve within minutes when charged with a little bit of sweat on them.

Learned about HEAs (can't remember where), saw some fantastic material properties (rather high yield strengths, solid elastic modulus), and was pleasantly surprised at how much electrolytic corrosion they could resist.

Then one of our money people got a quote from the vendor to see how much it would cost to put it in our product, laughed, and said, "Back to the drawing board you go!" I think it was something like 20x more expensive than a copper alloy contact.

And now we know why Steve Zadesky left the Titan program and why the Titan program was ultimately shut down. Ive has no idea how to design a car.
