You would be dependent on some entity running the hardware and then your instance on that hardware. What if they just shut you off? What happens to senses and emotions?

The Singularity has some holes that I'm not comfortable with.

Yes. My brother is a retired Public Defender. There are crazier stories.

Ok, sure, why doesn't sand feel pain?

There is no way to run for the door.

If the sidewalk said "Ouch!" when you walked on it, what would you do? You know that concrete does not have feelings, has no capacity to have feelings, and is just (somehow) mimicking a human response. You know you can walk on the sidewalk without hurting the sidewalk. What would you do if the sidewalk complained? Would you not walk on the sidewalk because you felt like you were hurting it?

I would walk on the sidewalk and report the complaints as bugs. You can't torture sand, in the sidewalk or in a processor.

Does not explain what it is before requiring a working email address. I suppose it ends in "Thanks for the contact that I'm now selling!"

Same for small business or any small buyer.

Hey just like my car, when it is in public you can't expect privacy. The cameras cam track us in public but we can't track the cameras in public? Sorry if you take away my privacy then I'll take away yours too. Everything tracked, logged, and cataloged.

I imagine it takes a football field and a small building full of pieces. Sounds like fun!

> it would just not be worth it

That is my entire point. Even with many smaller pipes it has not been worth it. A big trench is just more affordable and covering it is probably a better option than replacing it.

According to the article: Comma.ai’s own website states that the “performance” of openpilot Adaptive Cruise Control can be affected by “vehicles in the same lane that are not moving.”

Seems the AI view of the road is kind of like the game Cruis'n where the road just moves forward and you can hit things in the road and keep going. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Cruis%27n

To be honest though, I have a Ford with soke form of Blue Cruise. On the highway in certain areas it can pretty much drive itself. It is terrible in traffic, cant see more than one car ahead and slams on the brakes to stop - it freaks me out, I don't drive like that. Systems like these and seemingly Comma's do not appear to have enough information to know what to do in certain situations, it is why the Ford system is limited to certain situations (and even Ford has issues as in this article).

Maybe I'm old, I haven't been super impressed with these self-driving systems and much prefer to be in control myself.

According to AI, that pipe would only need to be 43 Feet in diameter, only 43 feet wide. Pretty sure they have that at Home Depot.

Feels like the "ini files" era. I suspect at some point some kind of database is coming for these settings.
