Yes I know, and agreed. <€3.0 is still cheap enough to buy a dozen and keep in a drawer for a bunch of applications

What would have been the right amount of harping about the environment though? Or is it always going to be a pointless exercise trying to convince/alert people?

Or is the only way to do that successfully, doing it subconsciously/covertly like the state actors are swaying public opinion? :-/

1/ You're on HN, the audience isn't "everyday average people"

2/ This is like complaining that climate activists were harping too much 30 years ago, and that's why nobody listened

This feels like a failure in (late stage) capitalism more than corporates.

I would love if we'd put efforts towards better economic/political systems.

These datacenters run the GPU's close to 100% usage 24/7. The Mac mini at home probably has <25% utilization. And then there's economies of scale, wholesale discounts, etc.

The Mac mini GPU also isn't as optimized as the datacenter GPUs

People want recognition when doing something hard that took time, effort and dedication.

Training a year, and running a marathon feels more worthy of recognition than driving 42km in a car from the start to the finish.

While I don't empathize with the defeatist tone of the post. I do empathize with this part.

I loved the interactive DVD menu's. The deleted scenes and director commentaries or alternate endings were such a bonus. I miss those

I fully agree that we should have incentives and systems in place that the government works for the people.

> government should be small enough that it fears the people

How would that work when the government controls the military? Would that mean that a country's military has to remain small?

I used to, but not anymore. The incentives and human behavior seem to lead to corruption. New tools have made it too easy to pervert real/honest democracy into "pseudo" democracy/idiocracy.

A well-funded minority can shape what the majority is angry about.

would the difference between those two show up in the measurements that the article made?

> nobody benifits from supporting it

Do you mean the users of the browsers not benefitting, or specific Google employees/stakeholders?

I don't know the details of Czech accounting, but large investments are usually amortized over several years. It impacts cash-flow more than profit
