even though the constant is tiny, this breaks the long held assumption that nlogn is the minimal possible bound, so further research seemed unfruitful. this discovery will now trigger more research in this area, and probably more optimal algorithms will be discovered.

Like matrix multiplication, the common assumption was that it cannot be improved past n^3. Then Strassen broke the barrier (with a more significant constant) which caused intensive research - and now we are around n^2.3..2.4.

He has single digit percentage of the company but double digits percentage of voting stock. My understanding is that he and Brin are holding together barely above 50% of the latter and understandably do not want to lose the control.

Or use a bunch of fonts shuffling letters. So the text on the page and ASCII text under it do not match

Otoh, how do LLM read PDFs? Text is likely to be shuffled anyway from my experience. Do they not (simply) OCR? But then the white font trick won't work.

My pixel fold 9 got 3 hardware failures (battery, speaker and folding sensor) and was warranty replaced for a fold 10. While it was being replaced I was using a non foldable phone and was totally missing the folding experience (large screen and multitasking for some personal use cases), so I am team foldables for now. otoh I do not get the idea behind the flip phones

2 bit 160x144px ought to be enough for anything

The year is 2026. Surely the orbits of all the satellites are known well enough, and optics are modelled well enough for telescopes to know which few pixels to ignore at any given moment?

ACs are uncommon, yet red tape is plentiful.

> new Integer(10) == new Long(10) // compiler error, used to false

wait, really? I thought introducing _such_ incompatibility was not allowed

Looks like those in favor of small government should not vote - to apply evolutionary pressure instead of rewarding unacceptable behavior

> There's absolutely no military benefit to bombing a girl's school.

Objection. For a hypothetical actor wanting to set the world economy on fire there might be a benefit of enraging the enemy to lower the risk of early deescalation.

the 2009 collision was well documented and there are interesting reports online

e.g. https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/20100002023/downloads/20...

which has a chart of apogee/perigee of debris. There seem to be examples of debris with _perigee_ above the collision altitude but the vast majority stayed beyond.
