Productivity went down because an engineer spent 2 weeks doing what nobody would have previously done /s.

On a more serious note, the productivity increase is the time which will no longer be needed to maintain two production systems instead of one.

Ouch. Related, https://www.explainxkcd.com/ has been taken down for now.

http://caltechrejects.com/ takes you to https://mit.edu/: you don't need a .sucks TLD to be funny.

Would be fun to build this using cryptography (probably some kind of MPC).

Pokémon is the trademark (see e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon). Pokemon is common spelling in countries where keyboards don't have é and/or where people aren't used to inputting é.

It is common for brands to localize their names. E.g. Axe (the deodorant) in some countries is branded as Lynx.

This is great! I wish more knowledge bases realized their barrier to entry. Eg even Wikipedia can be scary to edit the first time, if you want to present things like citations the right way.

Orthogonal but related: where I live, homeowners might get charged negative prices at times for solar re-injected in the network. This doesn't make a ton of sense for me since you could just unplug the panels instead of being charged for the production! However, the electric company charges you retroactively (on a 15-min bucket) so you would need an accurate model to "beat them at their game". Negative electric prices in a country with a huge amount of solar/wind/hydro is surprising, since all of these production methods can stopped on demand (and even reversed in the case of some hydro setups).

Corona zero and Guinness Zero aren't that bad. A Guinness Zero on draft is pretty much the same taste as the regular stuff.

The following example (from the spec) seems quite fragile:

    <message>
      <body>This XEP supports many things:
    * inline markup
    * code blocks
    * lists
    * and possibly more!</body>
      <markup xmlns="urn:xmpp:markup:0">
          <list start="31" end="89" ordered="false">
          <li start="31"/>
          <li start="47"/>
          <li start="61"/>
          <li start="69"/>
        </list>
      </markup>
    </message>

In many cases, the cold-start time might not be visible to users. E.g. if you serve your static content from a CDN, maybe you have stale content in local storage you can show while fetching updated data. If it all happens on a sub-100ms timescale, it should feel quite instant?

You are right, it's double-edged. In some cases it can hurt companies (e.g. luxury good companies) while in other cases it can benefit them (e.g. car companies benefit from the second-hand market in many ways). It's a fascinating economics+psychology topic.
