There was never any backstop to equity investors at any time.

Even during GFC, equity investors were wiped out. Same with Silicon Valley Bank.

This trope that investors are bailed out is doing more harm than good. Because intervention and backstops actually helps the economy from not going into a death spiral that destroys the poor and middle class

Why would anyone automate a bad process.

When Waymo automates self-driving it isn't automating bad drivers. So are robots on Amazon warehouses

Autonation is the only true way out of incompetence.

Eventually everyone will come around e/acc.

As the biggest cheerleader of AI, I like to have a few sources that are free of AI and Wikipedia is one of the few perfect places to embrace this.

Of course AI can be used to check sources, get critical feedback and translate to languages. But content should be 100% human driven.

The past does not repeat.

But if you are going against 200 years (some say even 10,000 years) civilization trends, you better have extremely strong data points to prove this time is different

Wow, a very balanced article and the author has no bias at all using Artificial Idiocy, Oligarchy.

And Thiel was parsing a real subtlety: endure as what? He favors transhumanist transformation, not a frozen Homo sapiens. But someone with a preinstalled Thiel-hate (like the author) didn’t hear nuance.

So, she is protesting against People having their food delivered to them?

Yes and no. At the end of the day, there is a certain natural demand for goods/services and a natural production capacity.

Suppressing demand below natural production capacity is just chopping of your own arm. That's why Interest rates are the Big(O) factor it is made out to be. It is always government policies

-- allow economy to operate at full capacity

-- don't print (borrow) money more than full capacity

Comment · 17 days ago
This is a naive understanding.

If you bomb your supply chains, no amount of interest rate manipulation will make it come down (supply shock through destruction of capacity)

If you make all doctors/lawyers to undergo recertification, medical costs will skyrocket (supply shock through regulation)

If you deport all your construction workers, bringing construction to a screeching halt, housing costs will skyrocket (supply shock through xenophobia)

tl;dr The Big(0) cause of inflation are capacity (supply) and other stupid governmental responses to it. (printing more money)

Interest rates actually come way below these factors.

Interest rates will never discourage corrupt governments from printing (borrowing) more money and giving them to the mass .

If salaries also took the elevator, then it's a recipe for hyperinflation. Slow wage growth is a natural check on runaway inflation. Yes, it's cruel on an individual level, but on a macro level, we are better off.

The ideal way inflation should come down is increased capacity and/or lower government spending

Source control has fine-grained metadata that is invaluable for LLMs.

They can just analyze PRs and diffs without loading the entire 10,000 line file.

Also, anti-AI folks really have a fundamental misunderstanding of how everything works in the LLM world and is probably why all their predictions are wrong

If he is really as good as you say, you can literally ask Claude as to how to go about getting visibility.

It's just a search problem now.

I'm not sure there is any advantage in publishing this in a remote town rather than NYC and SF.

Any tech savvy person in NYC or SF would not be scouring newspapers for tech jobs and even if they are, they are most likely to be H1B or Greencard themselves.

A small town newspaper may actually make people apply to those roles.

But either way, people who likely to come through these ads can be easily disqualified just by adding a few technology stacks

If there is a market demand, skills will find a way, especially in non-regulated industries like Software Engineering with $0 barriers to entry and no government certification

We are not in the 1930s.

If you have made it to the point of being a Junior Developer, I can assure you food and shelter is not a problem for them. You just have to adjust to a standard of living like the other 7 Billion people on this world.

Also, if a Junior Developer can show me(or anyone) they have built an entire system on their own and explain key concepts, there is no dearth of jobs for them
