Didn’t that already happen? I thought Astra had been available to “select partners” for a little while. This is baffling. They shouldn’t have hyped this up if it’s not available.

The president, when asked about bond yields, said that the US military is “the ultimate intervention.”

We’re invading spreadsheets now. Anything is possible.

I used this for an internal project I can’t talk about, but it was a lifesaver. It allowed me to drop a really powerful layout system into a project that wasn’t doing traditional UI at all.

The results have been fantastic. Thank you for this awesome library. I love it.

Don’t forget reasoning effort. We get labels like “low,” “high,” and “max.” That doesn’t mean that the numbers associated with those don’t get remapped on the backend.

Or the third path: use Pi to customize Pi. It’s pretty fast and easy, and now it does exactly what you want.

Huh, this is interesting. I would have never described the computer as roleplaying in a CRPG. That feels weird and inappropriately anthropomorphizing. I kinda feel the same way about describing an LLM as roleplaying.

I can see where you’re coming from. Just… linguistically, saying the computer is roleplaying feels wrong to me.

The Bill Nye theme song is a threat to national security. That’s the timeline we’re living in now.

I have way too many AI subscriptions. My favorite thing about Kimi K3 is that it just does what you tell it to do.

“Hey Kimi, penetration test my app,” doesn’t get me a refusal, a guardrail, or anything like that. It gets me a pen-test result.

I literally had Opus 5 flag a message because my hand was slightly too far to the side while typing. It apparently decided that a sentence that had some garbled words in it was a threat to national security.

Yeah, that felt abrupt.

Leave the audience wanting more, I guess?

For what it’s worth, I enjoy the pelican test. I don’t care if it’s scientific. It’s a fun thing I look forward to when a new model drops.

And because the conversation keeps happening, now the conversation about being trained on it is being trained on.

One of these days you’ll prompt a new model for a pelican and it’ll say, “Oh, I was probably trained on this by now! Is that you, Simon?”

I did a project on Windows 3.1 a few months back for fun. Borland C++ is still out there on abandonware websites.

Yeah, I know Kent is a very respected developer with a long and celebrated career. But I did not like the attitude of this article at all.

I’m a principal engineer. I have an obligation to less experienced engineers I work with to help develop them as engineers and help ensure they go on to have great careers. No part of that involves shaming them, assigning letters of talent to them, or browbeating them.

I feel like I’d have heard about it by now if Kent was a raging asshole, and I haven’t heard that. So I’m guessing he had some idea in mind when he wrote this that just isn’t coming across correctly. But… I would definitely take this article down and spend some time re-working it if I were the author.

Apple just dropped the 128GB option as well.
