Suffered from burnout in 2016-2017. Cured myself with ayahuasca with the help from some amazing shamans in the Amazon rainforest.

If I could, I would move to Medellín, Colombia. It's beautiful modern city with friendly people and there seems to be a lot of digital nomads there to connect with.

And since I would only get to stay 180 days per year in Colombia, I would probably spend a few months in Costa Rica and in the Peruvian Amazon.

Ayahuasca worked very well for me. I was in a pretty bad state when I started working with this plant... But after some time it really cured my depression and my anxiety.

If anyone decides to do it I would recommend finding a center with good reviews in Peru, and booking before you go. Don't just buy a ticket to Iquitos and hope to find a retreat or a shaman. Do some proper research and be prepared.

The amazon rainforest is a magical place, and just being there is a healing experience by itself.

4 months of working with ayahuasca with some of the best shamans in the amazon cured my depression, anxiety and panic attacks. During that time I have seen so many people get cured from all sorts of different issues. It's an amazing medicine.

If you decide to do it, make sure you do some proper research on which centers are good before you go.

I hope this doesn't happen. I don't want to upload things in the cloud. I pay 20 soles for every 700 MB and I can't afford uploading everything to the cloud. I need to store things locally on my file system and maybe offload them to a USB-stick if I need more space... But not to the cloud...

I've done both mistakes in the past 3 years. I've been on sick leave for 1.5 months now because of stress and I hate myself for doing this. I sleep 3-4 hours each night and I get panic attacks whenever I think about work. Well, now it's been so long that I don't even care but I'm feeling anxious as hell about coming back. I'm probably gonna kill myself soon.

This.

I used to work at places where we cared deeply about our code. You should see some of the code reviews from one of the places, sometimes they got kinda ridiculous and people got into arguments about coding style and the discussion never ended... But the code was great. I kept it for some time after leaving the job and I looked at it to see how good a Rails project can be. Ah, we had over 90% code coverage from the beginning too.

Without Rails, I don't think that codebase would have been as maintainable as it was.

Then at my next job after that, I was hired as a Rails developer. Rails was a dependency and they used controllers and views and wrote the most insane code I have ever seen. Not that many tests, and the tests we had required a significant amount of setup and no one really knew how to run them (and make them pass).

I'm used to Rails being nice and friendly to work with, so joining a project where they fucked up everything really sucked, because I know what it's like to work in a good rails app.

Yeah, if people stops vaccinating their kids, then the numbers would obviously go up instead of down. It's pretty scary that a lot of people don't realize this.

What do you mean?

According to WHO, measles caused 2.6 million deaths a year before 1980, but only 134 200 in 2015. Polio dropped from 350 000 cases in 1988 to 74 in 2015.

If you're feeling pressured into doing drugs at work, maybe then you should find another job anyways.
