Compared to the USA, China seems a whole lot more peaceful.

I got news for you: iphone market share has been going up year over year in China.

I got even more news for you: 45% of Chinese oil imports are from middle east vassal states of the USA. And those imports are purchased in USD.

China needs the West and vice versa.

So aviators and oakleys I guess?

I don’t believe that. China’s economy and the west’s is very deeply interconnected and what is good for one is good for the other.

Also, the new generation of Chinese has grown up with western comforts and would not readily go back to pre-modernization so they are reliant on the west to trade for technology.

OK lets try doing this for the USA;

* I’m sure the vietnamese would disagree

* I’m sure the cubans would disagree

* I’m sure the iraqis would disagree

* I’m sure the afghanis would disagree

* I’m sure the venezuelans would disagree

* I’m sure the iranians would disagree

* I’m sure the palastinians would disagree

Should I go on? I didn’t mention all of the latin american countries the CIA fucked?

> There are zero Canadian automobile assemblers; they are Canadian subsidiaries of American

Toyota has massive assembly plants in Canada which net export vehicles to the USA. My rav4 hybrid was built in Woodstock Ontario.

As another Canadian, I wish we could stop treating China as a boogeyman. By and large China is not malicious and really just wants peace (there is a name for the Chinese policy which is basically “do nothing and win” but I forget it).

I also would like to see Canada stop negotiating with the USA. If Trump says “if you aren’t going to do X, we will do Y”, Canada should just say “so be it” and move towards other trade partners. If you want to trade with us in good faith we are completely open to it, but the bipolar level of instability in trade should not be tolerated.

Don't forget jitter as well. Otherwise your clients will just coordinate their retries.

Most chromosome defects (trisomy) can be screened for now. NIPT is effective at 9 weeks pregnant and the technology is only going to get better.

Same in Canada. All assets acquired after common law or marriage are shared and split evenly in the divorce. Whoever makes more salary needs to pay alimony to the other.

That bug report was a good read.

By the time these gigawatt datacenters are done being built the hardware will be so far behind state of the art they may be mostly useless.

Quite a number of the smartest people I know got scalped to work at OpenAI. I don’t know anyone who went to Anthropic. Something I think which is under emphasized is that OpenAI has the human capital in addition to the financial capital advantage over Anthropic.

Over the long term I think OpenAI will produce the better experience when it comes to model quality, harness quality, and availability. I have been using codex the past few months and never looked back.
