Including the alt text ("Hide objects button") made this a very confusing quote, until I went to the page.

git.cafe appears to be either incredibly slow or completely down, for me.

What is it?

Sometimes you're given an HDMI cable to plug into your device, like in an office meeting room. Or in the article's case, a classroom.

Corruption is part of the job description, for the NYPD.

I've also been disappointed by the lack of enforcement, and it's not necessarily for violations with little harm.

Failing to provide salary transparency in job postings is another common one with zero enforcement.

Writing deployment manifests and CI pipelines is not really the core part of "SRE" to me: it's more related to how you run software in production, not the build/test process to get it there.

If you don't look at your code and need to debug a production issue, do you just panic chat with your agent to solve the problem?

The only people I know still using Hey are doing so because there's no way to move your address elsewhere. It's a PITA to change your email everywhere (and some unfortunate place don't let you; e.g. email as the login and primary key)

It didn't occur to me when I first read the article, but I do see now the author called it "remote editing" as you did too.

It may be worth more attention though. VSCode is not really remote editing (thick client, thin server binary), it's setting up a development environment (compilers, LSPs, editor extensions, etc.) on a remote thing (VM, container) that you access with a thin VSCode shell.

If you want to quickly edit a config file on a remote machine, TRAMP seems great. VSCode Remote SSH is not meant for that.

I thought "how bad could it be" and I was quite surprised :)

That's spectacularly obfuscated in comparison to the rest.

Don't worry, they wouldn't lose the chance to trademark something silly like CameraJet™

That's not really an "addiction" by any reasonable meaning besides "something I do often".

The actual meaning is more complex, involving inability to stop, negative effects on your life, etc. - none of which apply to wearing your glasses or breathing.

Do you have a particular issue with... the company that wrote this post, their choice of DB, decisions made in Litestream, SQLite, etc.?

"with multiple 3090s" is quite a bit of burying the lede for "most local models work just fine", don't you think?

Architecturally, how are you storing Git data? If it isn't fundamentally different from bare-repo-on-disk with libgit2 or wrapping the git binary, you're not going to scale any better.
