This is categorically not what happened during the industrial revolution, you're thinking of the second industrial revolution and even then it's a less rosy picture. The first industrial revolution did not lead to rapid growth and in fact led to brutal methods to increase cheap resource extraction like children working in coal mines, expanded slavery in the new world, and brutal colonialism.

An exchange having to stop trading and gracefully shut down their systems for a few days doesn't really strike me as a disaster though.

It isn't automatic for me unless I try to skip a sponsored segment myself, then it will kick in and skip me to the end of that segment with a popup above the scroll bar saying they did so.

I think Steve Ballmer would be pretty fun to hang out with for a bit. Maybe not a beer but lunch with Bill Gates would be alright, I'd love to pick his brain about his charity work.

Already happened a few times. Japanese streamers have to ask for explicit permission to stream games so they play a lot of western games that allow it, Nintendo didn't allow let's plays for a while, and a game developer didn't like a popular youtuber (pewdiepie I think) and did takedowns of said youtuber playing their game.

They may have expected typists coming over from typewriters to hammer on it for 8 hours a day, or to give them a similar feel to ease the transition and limit complaints.

Low frequencies travel further, in my house high frequency road noise is annoying but tends to come and go quickly but low frequency road noise I can often hear from literally miles away.

I'd have to dig into the research to figure it out, numbers on synthetic fibers range from 34-50+% but how that's categorized is all over the place.

Tires aren't 80% of microplastics pollution, that's a misreporting of the study. They're 80% of the category that includes tires, that whole category is only 11% of microplastics.

Iceland's population is less than that of Wyoming, and I wouldn't be surprised if the governor of Wyoming was on a normal flight.
