There are so many other explanations.

Maybe this person is working in a different domain where these tools work less well. Maybe this person is a particular kind of expert where they detect incorrect or suboptimal output that would be difficult for others to detect. Maybe the mechanism they use to evaluate the output is different than what other people use.

My wife is a historian. She and her colleagues are generally skeptical of AI but have also given these tools serious attempts at improving their work. In the last six months she has made serious attempts to use these tools for paliography and transcription, identifying likely productive archives to visit, and for synthesizing the state of prior research.

In each domain the tools have done some things well but also confidently reported simply incorrect things. They misunderstand the development of these archives and recommend unproductive visits. They invent content when transcription in difficult.

Not just legal, but useless. Alaska has ranked choice voting. Somebody who is confused and wants to vote for the Republican can just rank both Sullivans.

NYT is just drooling for the dems doing anything “bad” at the same time we are seeing repeated actually illegal interference by the DoJ.

If you want to claim that the guy who shot the cop should be charged with attempted murder or something, fine. But the entire crew of them (including somebody who wasn't there) were charged with a completely different crime and given outrageous sentences because the judge (Kacsmaryk) hates the left.

This is what they already do in the bulk of states.

I think you'll find that lots of Googlers are upset about leadership's acquiescence to authoritarians. The flagging here just follows a trend of stories about tech companies and tech leaders supporting rising fascism getting flagged.

Suppose I am setting off some fireworks in my street to celebrate the 4th. Do you believe that my neighbors should fear for their lives? This was a noise protest. They weren't shooting roman candles at people.

Not just people involved, but the judge. Kacsmaryk is basically a psycho and his statements during the sentencing are outrageous.

Exactly one of them had a gun on them.

"Explosives" in this case are "ordinary fireworks you can buy at a stand on the side of the road meant to be loud and annoying."

Sure. If a wealth tax was set at 99% it'd be dumb. But this is not itself an argument against all taxes.

We already have income tax. Why start a business in this sort of environment? Work hard, so that the government can redistribute your success?

Amazingly, people still start businesses.

Yes if you tax people's wealth they will own less stuff. I see no reason why #2 isn't ideal.

> If you don't like a practice a business is doing, just don't do business with them.

That is what is happening here. TFA is upset that AI-generated content is making a thing they love less enjoyable.

In comparison, transphobes are banning things that do not affect them at all (trans healthcare for minors, drag shows) and are enacting policies in public spaces like schools, universities, and libraries.
