I'm fine with machines replacing labor... If we completely and totally remove capitalism from the equation.

I'm clearly not being pro 9-5 here. But in a 9-5 world, we need jobs in order to eat.

Depends on the political framework of the person you are speaking to. I think the laws are thuggish, as are the goons executing them.

Something, something, Borders do not exist as anything other than an abstract concept.

Most 9-5 workers (statistically) do not get to enjoy extra hours clawed back from labor. It's hard enough filling an 8 hour office day as it is.

And now you want to automate what little most workers do?

Not to sound insane (because those who know, know), but CRT's actually resolve very well and are league better than most non OLED displays for non-text based media consumption.

I run a wide-screen 1080i Sony Display as my main TV. Power consumption sucks, though.

Really, we need a non-monetized internet. The rest would fall into place. The fediverse honestly had the right ideas.

Considering just how much of the internet is bot traffic, with seemingly less user participation than the 2010's... Yeah?

Obviously a useless anecdote, but my internet consumption is far lower than it's ever been in my adult life.

It's honestly distressing that the merits of AI are being discussed as a practical automation problem, and not a philosophical issue. It really seems like the entire mindspace of tech is consumed by economics and material producibles. I don't think I want to live in a world where humans are irrelevant.

Violence exists up and down the political compass. The real debate is who is allowed to commit violence. The people, or the state. The status quo in most of the developed world is a state monopoly on violence.

The libertarian view is generally that the people should have the monopoly on violence.

Steam is literally just a DRM layer. I'd honestly prefer to not even have a layer between me and my games.

Increasingly, I wish Valve was less propriety. GOG is the correct business model. While they do great things for linux (steam input, proton), I wish these were far less tied to the application.

I wish Steam had a minimalist setting that only shows a list of games, with menus being available from a right click.

That's just plain terrible graphic design.

I think that there is something deeper about the disdain for AI than it's raw capitalist consequences. Perhaps it's that we are losing the quintessentially human act of creation to robots.

Is software a utility or an artistic outlet?
