Importantly, both boosters and doomers are believers (or perhaps cultists).

A doomer isn't skeptical; they're nearly as credulous as boosters, or maybe more so in some ways.

> I've also noticed how awful everything is to read lately.

Yeah, thanks dude. We appreciate your efforts to enshittify everything.

Edit: Sure, downvote, but the parent comment is really not very different from "arsonist puzzled and upset that so many buildings have burned down".

It solves the problem of Jensen Huang wanting more money.

I looked at the list of contributors, saw claude at the top, and just closed the tab.

> The new iOS has actually increased the quality for the first time in years.

In what ways? When did previous releases stop meeting your criteria?

> There are open source projects now that tackle problems nobody has before.

Such as?

> Last year people were asking "if AI is so great then where are the new apps?". Then data for 2026 came out and now the IOS app store has a 84% percent year-over-year increase in new app submissions.

That's exactly the opposite of what I want to see. As an app store user, I want to see fewer, higher quality apps, not more shovelware or slop.

Truly incredible innovation.

> The tools we host code on were designed for a different era — before AI wrote half the diff, before half our time went on reviews or waiting for CI, and before data sovereignty and protection was a concern.

Hello, slop. closes tab

> The rumor I’ve heard from multiple employees at OAI and Ant is that the model has solved hundreds of open problems in maths

Obviously these are unbiased and trustworthy sources.

I think you need to re-read the parent comment, specifically this part:

> I'd much rather all of the resources that are going into autonomous cars was instead going into proper public transit infrastructure.

You're almost certainly an American, and you probably have no idea what public transit is like in countries that have been investing in it for decades instead of focusing 95% of their resources on infrastructure for cars.

Yes, I'm not normally prone to motion sickness, but the change of perspective during a turn is quite unpleasant.

This is hard to understand without any references. Can you please share a relevant link or two?

> We're in the same situation now, with your access to the Internet - commerce, social networking, information - going through a walled garden of Gemini or OAI or Ant or Perplexity.

Really? I'm still using the internet, and I don't touch any of that stuff.

> by providing developers the ability to choose to use their own AI tooling

Wait, what does that have to do with any of what you said before? That doesn't sound like "access to the Internet."

> create a viable alternative to a bleaker, non-open Internet.

And now you've switched back to talking about the open (or not) Internet, which has nothing to do with "developers [choosing] their own AI tooling".

It sounds like you're just pursuing your own pet project while trying justify it using the language of internet freedom.
