the Bullet Cluster makes for a good comparison, there's a good image of it in the article. the bulk of the 2 galaxy clusters continued on but left behind 2 clouds of inter-cluster gas

my first impression was this could actually be a counterexample, because there we can see the heavy, dark matter-full clusters continuing on their trajectories at full speed whereas the gas slowed down and is being left behind. compared to these 3 lightweight galaxies which seem to be alone, rather than trailing behind their dark matter-hosting parents

but perhaps these 3 _are_ going slower than their full-scale origin galaxies. I would stake my view as a layman on whether anyone can find the dark matter galaxies that spawned these farther along their expected trajectories

nope. live in the forest, take care of yourself. a 250' sitka spruce fell from my neighbor's property onto the roof of my detached garage. it cost over 10k to fix it. the neighbor was not liable; it was covered by insurance

I got it down to 39% after 66 presses. It would be harder if it didn’t show you the rate. I was definitely learning from the feedback

that’s not deleting the data then. making people play Only Connect to parse out weasel phrases is akin to lying by omission. they say the same thing at US airports which is why I still opt out of the face scan at security. of course they keep hashes of the image and its features otherwise what’s the point

it's reinforced in the same sentence after you cut off your quote and is repeated again further into the article:

> Nash said the caves would have been "quite a cosy place to live, especially compared with the -20°C outside".

trapped in a bubble… nobody is good enough to work here. go back to bangladesh where all your sr staff must live

still couldn’t answer a basic question. I know I wouldn’t be hiring you with this communication track record

working with what tech? you didn't answer the question to a reasonable extent. it seems odd you need to hire people into principal and "distinguished" titles, you should be promoting from senior/staff to fill those internally. unicorn hunting is an organizational problem, not a useful reflection of the hiring market

Care to share with rest of the class what the role is, then?

“If I’d had more time, I’d have written a shorter letter”

if this is how you write to LLMs, I can easily see why you aren’t more productive over all from using them

my day job already had a messy codebase before AI. monorepo with half a million loc spanning 5 languages (excluding bash and declarative langs). everyone uses AI handily here.

you misread the parent reply

look at the sibling reply. these back-handed concessions are always either “AI is a great productivity boost if you’re just slamming out a CRUD web app” or the special snowflake “my big beautiful codebase is too complex.” maybe they are holding it, wrong with attitudes like that it’s hard to take them seriously. the phd holders at my office are some of the most prodigious vibe coders we have

ps: since when was complexity ever a good defense for why your codebase is difficult to work in?
