That targeting would make sense if it were a cheaper consumer-focused device like the Neo or Air. Leading with the $2,800 high-end device makes it seem more like they're hoping professionals will make use of it. I'm not sure how well that'll pan out.

Yep, upstream and downstream O2 sensors. The '96 I drove in college developed cracks around both. My cheapie self just patched them with JB Weld

Now Azure, AWS, and Cloudflare do it

I'm still not over the fact that the spectrum for both the Treo and the Pre was shut down before I got a chance to carry them. My teenage nerd self dreamed of carrying a network-equipped Palm device when I grew up.

(Yes, what came after was so much better. But it still would've been cool to hang around that era for a bit)

Especially when combined with competitors' bad decisions. A lot of the stuff Microsoft pulled with Windows 10 and 11 made the Mac platform look attractive.

We'll find out when the hands-on reviews start coming in. Right now, we're seeing Apple's carefully-curated press photos & renderings

At least you can replace it if that becomes a problem. Firmware built into the TV itself is something that you're stuck with.

We've had those in the US for several years now, and they work really well.

I did encounter an upside-down one yesterday. That was... counterproductive.

I feel like that term could also be used to describe Wes Anderson's filming style. The static shots and dead-centered framing are as much of a deadpan comedic character as anything happening in the scene.

Frustratingly, I haven't even had that in-store experience for a while now. You do the same app-based ordering process, but on a big tablet. If there's an issue with your order, it can take several minutes to get near enough to an employee to get their attention.

Gotta' love it when a possible answer to an LLM-related question is "Death."

Yet they continue to be manufactured.

If I bought one cotton bag and used it for my whole life, the argument would seem silly.

In reality, a household can easily gain 5-10 new tote bags a year as businesses hand them out as swag or with legitimate collections of items or paperwork. There's no way to use them all enough to justify their manufacturing.

The point the article is making is that the "use fewer plastic bags" thing was well-intended, but it incentivized an alternative with too many tradeoffs. Businesses could order a ton of bags, and feel like they were being "environmentally friendly" by handing them out. But in reality, they just flooded the marketplace with so many bags that didn't need to be made in the first place.
