You know you can already use previous versions of Genie and they look pretty damn close to this right?

It's not, it's just that hacker news is a hyperbolic bikeshedding chamber.

I think you're holding it wrong. I've never heard anyone doing this. Why?

Yes I'm actually gonna open-source it so I'll send you the repo, docs, and a recorded demo in a couple of weeks. We're already in contact on Discord too - I'm Pedro with the surfer pic.

I also see TypeSafe adopted Dagger which is awesome and hopefully inspires more confidence in the rest of the community. Best of luck!

Was gonna post this, you beat me to it!

Congrats on the launch, I'm a happy user of Dagger. One use case I've found for it besides CI was building an eval sandbox for testing different coding agents' performance using CLIs, APIs, and coding tasks.

It helps a lot with layering different permutations of dependencies (i.e. test Claude Code vs Codex vs Pi, or forward port access to the docs or no docs access) and you also benefit from the layer caching so evals take a lot less time.

One piece of constructive criticism I have for Dagger: while the API and CLI are beautifully made, the documentation and the webapp scare the normies and could be improved. I've also had some trouble with outdated documentation in the past but I'm sure 1.0 is meant to be a turning point in that with the new docs rework and all.

Dude it's a supercar that like 1000 people can buy, this thing is a rounding error. Lamborghini's revenue was $3B last year, Tesla's was $94B. Supercars are barely a market.

You'll see the stock go up when Robotaxi and the Semi hit the market.

Should SpaceX conduct the investigation to prove he had the intention of sabotaging? Ffs

Incredible blog post! I've been very much disagreeing with most mathematicians on this topic and also getting kind of annoyed at how ineloquent they are at getting to the point.

This on the other hand has actually kind of swayed me over? I think it's still a massive net-benefit for society but I resonated a lot with the author's feelings and I want to understand how to cope with them myself, perhaps by joining groups of people who are still interested in pure software (which AI is a part of now).

The -30IQ line in particular reminded me of DHH's ramblings on Twitter the past few days.

Hey do you have any opinion on the current utility of ui.sh? I wanted to buy it but I'm a bit wary of it just not being useful and they don't have a preview of a single skill.

Would've happened either way. Data is more valuable and also trivial to scrape now.

I've had some use cases with low latency requirements and frequent data updates. If you want to serve data on a frontend fast it's often not feasible to recompute everything every time

What does it matter if it's an HR person or the CEO telling me? The job is not coming back either way.

Oh my god you people can't enjoy anything. It's just cool workspace inspiration and a place for people to share their setups, can't we just take it for what it is?

What kind of comment is this? Such bad faith and adding nothing to the discussion.

You know Google owns a big part of SpaceX right?
