The 5800/5230/5530 were probably the best value touchscreen phones of the time, considering that their screens had higher DPI than the first three iPhones and they all had similar web browsers.

Nokia's real problem was that they didn't have anything to counter the Galaxy S series which was the benchmark in the Android world for many years, so they lost the high-end market by mid-2010 and as Android phones got cheaper they lost the low-end not long after.

TBH, I'm happy because there's an old account I'm unable to access (email address was closed, recovery didn't work) that still has content I would prefer not to be public anymore. The sooner it can vanish the better.

The governments, yes, but not the general population necessarily. And the governments can't survive without oil revenue and/or external support, so they'll be losing in the long run.

Nah, if anything the Islamist groups are biding their time, waiting for the internationally-supported governments to lose the will to carry on before striking.

I was thinking, in a world without DRAM, cobalt-infused magnetic tape (like that used for VHS and ferricobalt cassettes) or metal particle tape, digital sound recording would still be possible using 1960s black-and-white VTRs that took ferric oxide tape not dissimilar to those used for analog multitrack recording.

I suspect the end of Dennard Scaling scuppered this sort of utopia.

They have been underfunded for a decade now, with some unfortunate consequences - the web browser is based on Gecko 91.

They wanted a console they could write a full-3D Sonic game for, the Saturn couldn't quite do such a game justice.
