NoCulturalFit

Same here. Been pretty burned by this.

You're right, I am sorry.

I know how you feel man and I wish I could help you. Been talking with a former colleague of mine who blows most devs out of the water to apply to some jobs where he would be an amazing technical fit but it's hard to convince him to take the "humiliation".

I'm sorta the same..

There is another side to this than age. "Culture". A lot of people don't buy into the startup "culture" and won't be a good fit no matter how hard they work or how good they are.

I know people my age (30~) who can't get a foot in because they don't fit in with the hipster-frames-hoovering-art-director types who apart from being well connected founders also part time as diversity activists.

I doubt there is a shortage but if there was one I'd think it's simulated by non-coders hiring coders.

You can't call it a shortage when you expect developers to work 80 hour work weeks so you can squeeze $$ out of all your clients who decided not to hire in house for their main product on Android.

I thought it was pretty much known that the concept of SW-shortage was a big lie?

Ageism? No. Activists who brand people as heretic for not agreeing with Popular Political Opinion #37
