This rant seems to be all over the place. It mostly seems to be the usual BSD is more free than GPL, but then he comes back that Redhat source is only available to people who paid for the binary (the only way to get the binary). You wouldn't even be entitle to the source under the BSD license.

Maybe I read some of it wrong, but it was painful to get through with the constant telling me how bad things are before telling me what those things are. I truly despise this writing style. Set things up first, then discuss them, please. Then come to the conclusion of how bad it is with the reader.

What city is everyone thinking of when they read the description?

I've found myself engaging more with AI writing code. There is no easy time during the work day. I'm talking to product about what they want, communicating with AI to write it, and verifying that it covers what was asked for. And the better I get at it, the more of the product I need to learn at a faster pace. If I find some downtime, I work on additional features at the same time, something I wouldn't do on my own.

Quite simply, I'm more mentally drained at the end of a day working with AI than I am a normal day of coding. There is still a lot of energy and thought that needs to go into what needs to be written.

It feels like it's all senior developers now and nobody new. At some point they will want someone new and won't be able to find them.

In the imperial vs metric conversation, the protein debate has my favorite use of units: 1 gram per pound.

This is a little different though. The intent was for that amount of shares. So the amount isn't in question, just the vesting schedule. While the schedule may be non-standard, it isn't beyond belief (like 4 days). Also, years to quarters isn't a single typo like punctuation.

The illiteracy seems to carry straight into video production. There are way too many 15 minute videos for 4 lines of instructions.

Doesn't it mean "restrict competitors"?

The real problem is that servers are now entirely the domain of the companies running the anti-cheats. We used to run the servers for most of these and could ban cheaters. But the game companies demand we play the game their way, not our way. We've really lost something.

You still need some brilliant mathematicians to invent new problems. AI is not yet good at inventing problems which are both novel and interesting.

I'm not sure how much manual review in these stores is for security rather than content and enforcement of business rules.

I imagine nearly all the security review is automated scans, and not the source of the delays.

I love how in rugby if two guys are going a little two hard at each other the referee will call them over along with their captains, and address the captains while these gigantic players stand there like children.

One other offshoot of rugby officiating is they will admit wrongs and they'll say things like "I didn't see that." Compare that to the NFL where the refs make a bad call and the league will back them up to the point of being ridiculous by reinterpreting the rules to make the officials right (see "not a catch").

Rugby is so refreshing.

I used to introduce myself to the cop who would work each wrestling tournament our teams were in. They always had a chill time at wrestling, and I asked them which sport was the worst. Basketball. Every single one of them said basketball without hesitation.

Baseball in particular has a problem with anger is the arguments. Like there is no argument without a hostile tone. Players/managers never seem to merely appeal a call -- they jump straight to harsh yelling.

Compare it to soccer where there is also a lot of whininess in the complaining about calls.

It's become accepted that vulgar, angry, disagreement is acceptable until it goes "too far".

Tantrums are just socially accepted in baseball, and some other sports.

The cars are generally in good repair. They are typically taking decent enough roads. They are sober (or more sober than the average driver). They are driving "normal" routes -- from a house to a business, or a club to an apartment, often on routes they've run many times.

I don't know where you've been getting your aggressive, distracted, impatient, overconfident drivers. Most of my ride sharing has been airport to/from home or hotel, so maybe there is some selection bias there. It all seems routine as anything.

Personally, I can't get past the car being in good condition as something which is often overlooked.
