It’s a great article and I hope you don’t think I’m trying to assign any kind of agenda to it (on your part or mine). For some reason while reading it, it evoked a sense of queasiness in me - entirely my issue. Perhaps the contrast with the healthy vegetables I’d just eaten and an appreciation for the animal that contributed to my meal put me in an unusual state of mind.

This is a lighthearted topic and a well-written article.

But what it reveals about our relationship with food is a little unsettling. The intensely chemical nature of Doritos and the whole notion of turning flesh into something alien - it’s all very far removed from food as a source of nourishment and of natural origin.

Fantastic, thanks. I love Lua and especially the mindset that goes along with it. Will definitely check this out. Combining it with Datastar could be brilliant - I wonder if TurboLua supports SSE streaming.

Reading code is very hard because you have to build a mental model from code that others wrote. You’re trying to understand what they wrote, the intent behind that, and what’s wrong or missing - that’s just a fundamentally hard thing.

But building mental models based on data and communications from others is one of the most valuable problem solving and communication skills there is in business, precisely what Carson is getting at in his essay.

I took his comment to mean that programming jobs should be kept for people who genuinely care about developing a deep understanding and a willingness to learn, instead of those just typing prompts and not really caring beyond that.

I don’t buy into that narrative, but I don’t understand why Ling’s release is more exciting?
