If I were 61, I'd learn to not be so out of touch with the younger generation

Think even bigger. 1 degrees inside your house? Not noticeable at all. But on a planet-wide scale? A 1 degree difference requires a LOT of energy.

It's like boiling a cup of water vs an Olympic sized swimming pool. The latter is going to take a lot more energy than the former.

Earth will be swallowed by the sun before humans could make a dent in the earths core temperature.

Don't you know? Our great leaders are playing 4d chess on a higher dimension and everything they do is carefully planned and executed. Every failure and blunder is a move beyond our comprehension as part of the supreme master plan. Haven't you read The Art of War???

Obviously sarcasm... But in all seriousness, it's scary how many people genuinely believe this.

I'll be honest, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a human-only created typeface and an AI assisted typeface.

I did not have AI missionaries on my bingo card this year.

I've deleted all my social media and haven't looked back. It's safe to assume Meta tracks every little detail about you: what kind of content you like, how long you look at each post, your political stance, etc. Every single metric you can possibly think of... they're collecting.

Humans are predictable (more than we'd like to admit). Now they have AI to crunch all that data and find patterns to predict your next move and find out what content will give you the most dopamine. Escape while you can.

If you do decide to pursue this field, I'd advise you to learn the fundamentals without AI. Take your classes seriously. Open up a text book and read it, learn data structures, learn how to architect systems, etc.

I graduated two years ago and the majority of my class just used AI for their assignments and gave zero fucks. Nobody was there to learn. The amount of people who felt entitled to a high paying job because they saw the headlines in 2015 that there was a shortage of programmers was staggering. If you asked them the difference between an int32 and int64, they would look at you like you had two heads. The knowledge gap was sad and scary. AI has completely replaced all of these people and will continue to do so.

If you want to stand a chance, take this field seriously and dedicate the next few years to learning it without AI.

If I could go back in time, I'd choose another career and not look back. That being said, I still love programming and got a job that I love.
