Comey can't see the irony of his own doing:

>>> The current F.B.I. director, James Comey, keeps a copy of the King wiretap request on his desk as a reminder of the bureau’s capacity to do wrong.

Well said.

He was brave and an incredible orator. But not exactly a paragon of virtue, someone who can lead by example, which we really need at the highest rungs of power.

its not lazy. Some of us are very busy. This is stuff that agents can't vibe on their own.

I've committed the extreme crime of running no JS and clean cache of cookies. Plus, something as simple as containerizing work/play/research reading, into different browsers, has provoked the Eye of Google to be cast on me

I haven't seen a YT ad in years while in lurk-only mode (no login), which is nice, but I also see cloudflare everywhere , which is not great.

One of the nicer things about LLMs, is that they arrived just in time to erase my dependency in search.

Confiscating the wealth of all U.S. billionaires (~$8 trillion) would fund federal operations for roughly 9 months...1-time only.

After that, the money is gone.

The underlying problem of high, persistent government spending remains. This isn’t primarily a “tax the rich” problem.

Read about him.

He was really young at the time, with some work experience, but no bonafides. Meanwhile investors in Theranos were hisliteral family members - many were considered untouchable members of high society. The level of pressure he was subject to was incredible, and we was coming from a place where he was most vulnerable.

He is literally the star with morals, that you expect to come out of schools like Harvard etc. Instead we get the Holmes class, the Epstein class, the Blankfeins etc. We have been short-changed.

so you've basically spun up your own personal VPN.

Makes sense for all the reasons you stated. Curious - would this have been doable for a non technical person pre LLM ?

Fascinating that the only communications with Tyler Schultz, which was the main insider confronting the fraud, had all of ~4 exchanges with her. All in the same day.

Truly brave of him to go against the golden geese, despite turning his own family- and even former attorney generals & military officers- against him.

Its all on 4/11/2014.

Also interesting to see how Sunny & Holmes always thought it was Tyler, or the CLIA Lab Director (Adam) plotting against them.... when their scam was just in plain sight of regulators that bothered to actually do the work.

Holmes/Sunny reaction to Tyler's email and to Adam's resignation (Nov 2014) is one of outrage. Using the power inbalance to make their point, is 101 fraud.

Lindy's law:

For non-perishable things - i.e technologies, ideas, books, institutions - the expected remaining lifespan is roughly proportional to how long they have already survived

Time acts as a filter: what has already withstood a long stretch of disorder is more robust, so the longer it lasts, the longer it is expected to last.

The old nuclear software running on mainframes have passed the test of time. The new software, has yet to.

Nassim Taleb talks about this at length in his book, Antifragile.

Is it correct to say that the video looks far worse than it actually is ?

As in, the dust/mud particles sprayed & floating in the air do not have the force to do harm beyond vision or breathing impairment, similar to the dust from a collapsing building, or the lead shockwave of a nuclear bomb detonation.

Of course, it looks terrible, and certainly somethingbut its not a reason to perish as long as you can stay away from the following water wall and mud current that does strike sometime after.

>>> Like 26 gas turbines that make a ton of noise and pollution?

there's only noise pollution if there's anyone around. If there's anyone around, odds are land value is too expensive for a datacenter. As for pollution, that's already regulated. As is noise anyway. Lets not be pedantic. No one is protesting these due to pollution or noise.

>>> What? How does one BYO water?

Tankers. Like 95% of the world. Its a thing. This is actually the least likely to be an issue, since most datacenters run a closed loop water system anyway.

>>> Pipes and sewage to where? There's an implied common ground at the end of those.

Porta-potties for humans. Tanker disposal for the rest (to the extent you do have waste).

Buses were indeed the logical solution before Waymo/etc. Now, they are just a modern version of horse carriages. Dirty, slow, smelly and insecure.

The faster you get out of the bus, the faster you liberate grandma and kids from a fall, being mugged, or from freezing to death while waiting, and instead you promote an active lifestyle.

Waymo-like transport is incredibly liberating for low middle class parents, that cannot be trust their young kids to ride a bus alone and take time off blue collar work to take their kids to X practice.

Plus, they are much cheaper and safer to operate long term

Buses are a solution today, but only for upper class americans & soccer moms, who don't realize the issues that low income or limited fixed income seniors face in their everyday life.
