"clean room" with AI is impossible

Mermaid works great for fixed layouts like sequence diagrams and Gantts. For flowcharts, where position is king, it's bad.

I've tried using svg in my MD files but they get unwieldy quite fast. This is a great idea. My first reaction was - but what's if I need something more exact. But reflecting on it, I've realized that this relative positioning is probably enough.

> If you want to stop it hacking websites, you don't give it access to the internet

I think the Hugging Face incident proves that isn't as clear cut as you say.

I can see how the author put some work in this article. But I can't handle any more AI speak, even more after spending the whole day talking to Claude. It's too bad - blogging has been dying (well, at least in decline) for half a decade, and AI might be the final nail in the coffin.

"You sound like a robot m" has a whole new meaning for me.

There are two fallacies in your analogy.

Segfaults are precise symptoms - they occur only when there's a memory issue. Autism isn't precise, is a collection of characteristics that manifest differently in each person.

Genetic is, for the purpose of this conversation, a precise diagnosis - means you carry parent genes that will cause the issue. Memory management isn't: what caused it? Code error? OS error? Processor? Is it a bad code path or a unexpected exrtenal state?

Finally, an analogy of your analogy: you measure someone temperature and it's 40C. You diagnose a fever.

Segfaults are fever, just a symptom.

Reads like religion, not fact based analysis.

I'm by now past the point where I thought "this is a great tool that will help me programming" to the fear phase where I know it will destroy my job and career. But still I can't agree fully with the article. Hallucinations are not the issue. We can extract value from it even when it does hallucinate.

The only reason we're having this discussion is because AI is intelligent and therefore poses a threat to us.

Sure they do. And yet they still stand, which says something about their quality
