The worst is when an application updates itself just so it can stop running and tell you to upgrade to the latest OS version.

I might be the odd one out but I hate the awesome bar. What I do like about Firefox is I can make the awesome bar just a boring address bar and have a separate search bar.

It's a relic of SAT verbal analogies section which was removed in 2005. The syntax "A:B::C:D" represents the statement "A is to B as C is to D".

So on the test you'd get questions such as

  python:snake ::  ___ : ___

  a) lua:satellite
  b) swift:bird
  c) java:coffee
  d) pearl:gem
and you might select A because python is an interpreted scripting language and a type of snake in the same way lua is a scripting language and a type of natural satellite but you'd be wrong because the correct answer is B because the topic was actually about comparing animals.

I built a Hadley 114 over the course of 3 weekends and I highly enjoyed it. Amazon has a convenient 2 piece mirror kit you can buy. The rest of the parts (springs, screws, rods) can be acquired anywhere and the stand can be as complex or as simple as you want.

But they didn't do any actual testing? It's just some score based on ingredients and advertised SPF?

The mental gymnastics I've seen kids enable is Olympic level. Need to upgrade to a bigger house, need to upgrade the car to a SUV, need keep traveling 2-3 times a year, need to sign up for some crazy sports league and coach which means domestic flights and hotels every other week.

So what's preventing companies from giving games for free and requiring a subscription or one time membership fee for online play? They'd only be required to refund the full price of the game: $0.

It's 2026, roughly 4.5 years after the release of the remastered version Diablo II: Resurrected.

You'd think with all that electronics it would be smart enough to use real brakes every now and then. The plug in hybrid Prius runs the gas engine every 100 miles or so.

As someone with a self proclaimed fetish I have to ask if you have ever tried working with the material? I find even the most basic manipulation to be wild compared to other common metals.

I was sanding and polishing a long handled titanium spoon to make it more smooth (slowly) by hand and the friction from that quickly made it too hot to hold. It's thermal conductivity is 1/10th of aluminum and roughly 1/2 of stainless steel.

Another fun thing is to anodize it to different colors. Compared to aluminum it can be achieved without the use of caustic chemicals.

One downside is it would motivate companies to get intellectual property registered under a trademark with indefinite protection rather than copyright. Even with our current lifetime + 70 year protection we have companies like Disney getting characters registered as a trademark.
