Yes they didn't close down the business, it was already gone. There's not a business called "selling certs that aren't accepted by any browser or OS". That's not a product.

Absolutely no way any OS or browser manufacturer forgives them and let's their certs validate anything in the future.

The transdichotomous models assume a number big enough to hold n can be written in constant time when determining whether something runs in O(n log(n)).

I don't know whether the log of the size of the table needed has a linear relationship to log(n) in this case.

The "4 hour" is doing a lot of work here.

Put another way, you need the gas turbines for the two week dunkelflaute (winter doldrums). Given that you have the turbines already, when are batteries cheaper than running the turbines for a few hours every evening?

A more interesting question than the cheapest 4 hour solution. I think that answer might also be batteries soon.

This. Chording is the enemy. Use the right control key for the common ctrl-c ctrl-v ctrl-a etc. that are all in the left hand.

This also relates to my most controversial opinion: The caps lock key is good, actually.

> [The C rule was rejected for C++ because it] could inhibit useful optimizations

If be curious if these are the sorts of optimizations I would find useful to the point where I would be happy to pay the price of this annoying new behaviour.

Or are they just the sorts of optimizations that a compiler writer finds useful who is engaged in a multi year career-defining pissing contest with a competing team?

Don't get me wrong, I have myself engaged in a multi year career-defining pissing contest with a competing team. It's fun. But let's not kid ourselves that it's for the users' sake.

I don't know if you are the author but he wrote:

The only things that can easily go wrong now are:

The compiler turns out to be evil and introduces an “optimization” that I don’t anticipate

The V8 developers turn out to be evil and modify how this logic works and break my assumptions in a future release

Read the whole thing, but OK you didn't accuse anyone of being evil yet. But let me clarify that even if a later optimization breaks your constant time property that still wouldn't be evil.

Nobody was evil you just tried to rely on a property that V8 never promised.

Wasm doesn't promise it either but there's a much better chance you get what you want there.

I like the coins idea. I don't subscribe because I know I'll forget about it and it will turn into a recurring charge on my credit card. But I would buy $10 of coins, knowing the paywall just comes back if I don't buy more, and if I lose interest it won't keep costing me anything.

When I see the "$1 introductory offer" I just think they are trying to trick me.

$13/month is less than many of those sites cost individually, but I get them all for that price?
