I wouldn't say the bulletproof window demo was "sus" - that was just a Windows-crashing-during-the-demo screwup. They didn't fake the stress test on stage :)

oo, really? And Anthropic's ok with that? Any reason pi can't be modified to use this method?

You kinda do have to take Claude if you want to take advantage of their subscription pricing, sadly.

I'm currently running VectorChord and I love it - with a fast backing disk, it's cut my postgres cost in half. Excited to see competition in low-RAM vector index tools. RAMageddon seems to be creating incentives to find more ways to take advantage of how fast modern nvme drives are!

If those places became worse places to live as a result, wouldn't that drive property values down?

Because the tax revenue of them not coming there is zero, and the tax revenue after the breaks is very significant.

That's standard operating procedure for any non-de-minimis importer. The $800 limit was only imposed in 2016, historically it was a lot lower than that.

Nope, Congress has authorized the executive to impose tariffs multiple times for multiple different reasons. Tariff Act of '30, Trade Expansion Act of '62, Trade Act of '74, etc.

Isn't part of the Jev marketing that it has "terra-class intelligence"? I don't know how much it actually achieves that, but unless that's EXTREMELY wrong, it's hard to see how a 0.3B model could claim to be an OS Jev.

Worth noting that the limits being revoked have only been in place less than two years.

Keep in mind that total manufacturing capacity is increasing as well. Perhaps not enough to fully offset, but it's incorrect to assume that supply capacity is flat.

Appears to be further along than anybody's ever gotten with a multi-threaded emacs port. If that's what vibe coding gets us, three cheers for vibe coding!

This is the disconnect. You say that politicians are allowing them - that's not right. They're directing them to be set up, they're spending citizen tax money on buying them.

The blame lies entirely with government officials who sought out and purchased surveillance tech, and we should not blame the technologists who responded rationally to the incentive that local governments provided for them.
